Since 2015, CAHSI has partnered with the Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) conference to provide students with an inspiring experience that lends to student-focused growth and connection building. From discovering career pathways to learning about internship opportunities this is an annual event for students in computing or another STEM field.
The CAHSI sessions at the conference include a series of technical and professional development sessions engaging faculty, students, industry, national labs, and collaborators. The conference disseminates effective and promising practices, facilitates connections, prepares students in higher education and productive careers in computing, and promotes strategies that address the advancement of Hispanics in computing. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with CAHSI leaders, their student peers, and the broader STEM community.

Research Poster Competition
Each year at the GMiS Conference, college students have the opportunity to showcase their latest research findings through a poster presentation to STEM professionals. GMiS Research Poster Competition guidelines can be found here once available.
APPLY FOR THE CAHSI SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND GMIS
Each year CAHSI provides scholarship support to CAHSI students to attend the GMiS Conference. The GMiS Conference is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. CAHSI participants are selected prior to the GMiS conference.
HOW TO APPLY
To be considered for scholarship support, students will need to apply via an online form. Students will be notified early in the fall semester if they are selected to receive such support.

I have been selected for a CAHSI scholarship. How do I register for the GMiS Conference?
Once you are selected, you will receive a CAHSI registration waiver code via email that will need to be applied at the time of registration. You will need to make sure that you select CAHSI students as part of your registration process to make sure you can waive the registration cost.
I applied for the GMiS Scholarship Program. Can I still apply for a CAHSI Scholarship?
Yes. You can apply for the CAHSI Scholarship if you have applied for the GMiS STEM Scholarship. If you are selected as a GMiS Scholar, your CAHSI Scholarship application will be voided.

There are a variety of technical and professional development sessions that CAHSI organizes for students at the CAHSI Summit each year during the GMiS Conference. These range from cybersecurity sessions to the data analytics competition to sessions geared towards the Latinas+ community.
