We know there’s a lot to remember as kids start back to school, so we just wanted to send a quick reminder that starting today, September 3, 2024, guests will be prompted to pre-pay for fuel either at the pump or in-store. Pre-paying is common at our sites in other parts of Canada, including British Columbia and Alberta, and we are now expanding it to Ontario, as well as to our remaining sites in Saskatchewan and Manitoba and some sites in Quebec. We know change is hard, but we’ve made this decision proactively to ensure the safety of our guests and our Petro-Canada family as well as to reduce the risk of fuel theft. We understand this is a significant change for some of your routines. We appreciate your patience during this transition and thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

As we head into Pride weekend in Calgary, we’re reminded of a panel discussion with Skipping Stone - a nationally recognized nonprofit which supports trans and gender diverse youth, adults & families – that we co-hosted earlier this summer. The panel, moderated by Amelia Newbert (she/her) – Managing Director of Skipping Stone, included members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community as well as a parent of transgender children. The panel discussed issues faced by an increasingly marginalized group as well as the importance of allies and how families can provide them with the support they deserve. Our partner in presenting this discussion was PRISM, Suncor’s Employee Resource Group focused on creating an inclusive work environment and a safe space for all people from the 2SLGBTQ+ community and allies. At Petro‑Canada, we know that community isn’t just the physical space you inhabit, it’s the people you connect with. We stand with, support and celebrate members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community across Canada who are our customers, our neighbours and work in our stores. Keeping all Canadians at the heart of what we do and being here for each other no matter the journey is what living by the leaf is all about. Happy Pride, Calgary! Congratulations to Katarina Roxon and Patrick Anderson, who have been chosen as the Canadian flag bearers for the Opening Ceremony at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Katarina and Patrick will also receive the James Worrall Flag Bearer Award from Petro-Canada. Competing for Canada in the 1936 Olympic Games, James Worrall was also the flag bearer for the team. After his athletic career, Mr. Worrall became an ambassador worldwide for the Canadian Olympic Movement. The award itself, designed by renowned Canadian artist Micah Lexier, is just as solid, impressive and undeniably Canadian as the athletes on our team.
