Overview:


The Director, Business Development will be responsible for development of new business from new and existing clients. As part of the role, the Director, Business Development will obtain and maintain market intelligence related to Project pipelines and key contacts in the mining industry. The Director, Business Development will work in concert with the VP Technical Services, VP Environmental, and VP Projects to develop proposals, present to clients, and negotiate and win contracts for technical study and EPCM mandates.


Responsibilities:


Company Growth & Strategic Direction -

  • Develop and maintain an industry pipeline for mining projects globally.
  • Rank and prioritize project pursuits based on criteria developed by the company.
  • Identify and present new business opportunities to the company for untapped markets.
  • Develop and execute pursuit plans for key projects as identified.


Client Relationships -

  • Develop trusted relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors, accessing senior organizational levels.
  • Develop new business with existing customers and/or identify areas of improvement to meet business objectives and targets.
  • In concert with the department VPs, visit client offices and present service offerings.


Events -

  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events.
  • In concert with the Manager, Marketing, arrange and execute sponsored client events.


Proposals: & Contracts -

  • In collaboration with the Proposal Coordinator and department VPs, develop and present proposals for service offerings, both through formal bid processes, and unsolicited offerings.
  • Lead pricing strategy development and pricing reviews, develop bid and proposal estimates and manage proposal budgets.
  • Negotiate contracts in collaboration with and support from VPs, legal, and risk.


Marketing -

  • In collaboration with the Manager, Marketing, ensure all marketing material is current and complete for all service offerings, including development of bespoke marking material for specific project pursuits.


Qualifications/Experience/Education Requirements:


  • Extensive business development experience in the mineral mining sector within an engineering and/or construction service setting, and credibility with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Experience selling or delivering large projects with EPC/EPCM elements.
  • Previous success in long lead, high value, multi-decision-maker sales processes.
  • Experience of successfully partnering with and influencing clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Significant commercial negotiation experience with an ability to articulate benefits in the solutions created at a variety of levels within the client organizations.
  • Experience in both sales and projects and / or operations essential.
  • Degree in Mining, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Applied Sciences or related experience is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.


Compensation:


  • Competitive salary is offered with annual discretionary bonus and health benefits.
  • Travel expenses are reimbursed.


Work Schedule & Location:


  • Full-time salary position with performance incentives.
  • Ideally, the candidate is located in Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON. Hybrid arrangement may be acceptable for the right candidate.
  • Frequent travel will be required to visit client offices, conferences, and project sites.
  • Time off will be accommodated with appropriate advanced notice to the President.
