Members of the Spiritual Care Team held a Sweat Lodge ceremony last week, the first in the newly constructed Sweat Lodge built in July. The sweat lodge has helped many First Nations peoples on their holistic journey. Elders called it the most powerful structure on Turtle island for the Indigenous peoples who are looking for purification and cleansing. Traditional Healer, Austin Mixemong, shares “It’s a great honor to be part of this ceremony to help find peace and balance in a person’s life. There are many types of sweats in which people ask for healing. Remember to make sure your conductor has been trained for many years and has the knowledge to conduct sweats and has developed their gifts. I’m very proud of Waypoint for respecting the First Nation, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) Peoples in their holistic healing journey."
