KITE Affiliate scientist Dr. Brokoslaw Laschowski dreams of a world where it's normal for robotic arms to assist stroke survivors with lifting their cup of morning coffee or for exoskeletons to help individuals paralyzed by spinal cord injury to walk again. Dr. Laschowski's research focuses on developing artificial brains that can power these robots. He designs machine-learning algorithms that model human perception and motor control, enabling robots to control limbs like humans do. “I thought to myself, ‘I understand a little bit about how the human brain controls a biological leg.
