#TeamUHN’s Dr. Michael Zywiel performed the first knee replacement surgery in Canada that used a new robotic assisted technology. Today, on World Arthritis Day, we are happy to share that patient Steve Gotal has not only retired his walker, but is also looking forward to swimming and cycling again in the future. Thanks and congratulations to Dr. Zywiel and the Schroeder Arthritis Institute team on the successful implementation of the VELYS robotic assisted device. This achievement will go on to help in surgeries and recoveries for 700 knee replacement patients that go through UHN each year.

Improvements to human health top the list of benefits that will stem from the use of machine-learning algorithms. This was a primary point made by an artificial intelligence trailblazer who just became a co-recipient of this year's Nobel Prize in physics. As the first chief AI scientist at a Canadian hospital, #TeamUHN's, Dr. Bo Wang weighs in on the current impacts and future potential of the technology. Read the full interview and learn more about how AI is being used in patient care at UHN and at hospitals across the country. 👇 https://tgam.ca/4eDQqNq

🚨 New Study on Lung Cancer and Brain Metastasis! 📊 UHN researchers have developed and validated a tool that can assess DNA changes to predict a patient’s risk of lung cancer spreading to the brain. So, why is this important? 🤔 This study matters because the computational model not only reliably predicts the development of brain metastases more accurately, but it also helps to tailor treatment, improve patient outcomes and their quality of life. 🌟 Interested in learning more? ⬇️ https://bit.ly/4gTv8wT
