About us

The Toronto Transit Commission has a rich history dating back to 1921. Since that time, the TTC has grown to become North America’s third largest transit system, providing 1.7 million customer journeys every workday, or around 540 million rides per year. The TTC has a proud record for providing safe, reliable transit. Operating across five distinct modes of transportation, the TTC has developed a reputation for excellence in the integration of those modes through well-proven design. A full-service operator, the TTC is capable of undertaking virtually every activity in-house via our 17,000 dedicated and professional employees. Toronto’s transit system should match the experience of living in such a city: a high quality, accessible network that understands what our customers need and delivers what matters most to them. The TTC is committed to delivering a world-class transit system.

  • 🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟 Po Chen - Station Supervisor, Stations Po Chen always imagined himself as a Bus Operator serving the city. But when he joined the TTC in 2013 and was assigned the role of Subway Operator instead, he quickly grew fascinated with the role. He learned that transit is so more than just vehicles; he saw the big picture that keeps the system running smoothly. Seeking to expand his transit experience, Po transitioned to Stations after three years as an Operator, where he now works as a Station Supervisor. The construction sites for new subway stations like Pioneer and Highway 407 inspired him to make the leap to Stations. He wanted to be a part of something new and exciting. Po’s most crucial task is managing service disruptions with patience and safety. He stepped up during a service disruption as an incident commander for eight hours at Davisville Station, collaborating with emergency responders and staff to manage the situation effectively. This event stood out to Po, as he enjoys the diverse challenges that each day at the TTC brings. “I appreciate the dynamic environment of the TTC,” he said. “Each challenge offers a chance to learn and improve. This constant evolution keeps my work exciting and fulfilling.”

  • 🌟 Employee Spotlight 🌟 Ann Noah - Fare Inspector stationed at Davisville with the G Platoon Ann's journey began in India. Her father's role as an Aeronautical Engineer in the Indian Air Force ignited her lifelong aspiration for uniformed careers. Growing up in a close-knit community instilled in Ann a deep passion for helping others, driving her to pursue a career in medicine. After practicing as a family physician for two years, Ann specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. Upon immigrating to Canada to be with her family, Ann found herself drawn to a different avenue of public service: the TTC. As a newcomer, Ann relied on the TTC as her primary mode of transportation, where she recognized the role Fare Inspectors played in deterring fare evasion. Despite facing many obstacles, Ann remained steadfast in her pursuit. She began her law enforcement career as a Security Officer and Emergency Medical Responder in Toronto. In 2022, her persistence paid off when she joined the TTC as a Temporary Seasonal Maintenance Worker. In September 2023, she embarked on her role as a Fare Inspector, crediting the TTC's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative for her success. Ann relishes the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and make a positive impact on their lives while proudly representing the TTC. As a new immigrant, she understands the struggles of adapting to a new environment but advises others to remain resilient and never lose hope.
