Thank you for your support! Great work everyone.
Earlier this week, we hosted our second urban reforestation project, this time in the District of Saanich. Organized in partnership with Tree Canada / Arbres Canada, this project saw the planting of 60 new trees and 100 shrubs at Cuthbert Holmes Park, contributing to an ongoing planned ecosystem restoration that has been underway by the District of Saanich since the completion of the McKenzie Interchange in 2020. The goal of the restoration project is to restore the riparian area to its former natural condition, enhance water quality for the salmon-running river and its wildlife, and provide a safe space for the public to enjoy the natural environment. Our team was joined by Saanich Acting Mayor Teale Phelps Bondaroff, staff from the District of Saanich, and several key partners involved in the upcoming Harper project, where we’ll be breaking ground next month. A big thanks to everyone who participated, including the Acting Mayor, Saanich Natural Areas staff, and our Harper project partners: Carolynn Wilson Architect, MDILandscapes, Talmack Urban Forestry, Harbour City Kitchens, CBS Electric, Colonial Countertops, Oceanview Mechanical and the Verbrugge Group.

Planting projects are among the diverse sustainability practices seen on many dairy farms across Canada. Trees, hedgerows, and shelterbelts are key tools for preventing soil erosion and improving soil quality. On some farms, trees are being planted on marginal land to promote biodiversity.
