Cities are where we call home. We know they’re far from perfect — and utterly besieged by cars — but we’re fiercely passionate about making them better places to live, raise kids, and grow old. It’s why we’re working so hard to make car-free transportation the default way of getting around, and help transform our cities for the better. Here’s our vision for Transit and the future of cities: vision.transitapp.com ✨ ~~ Les villes sont notre chez-nous.

They say you should never meet your heroes… unless your hero is Jarrett Walker and you’re huge fans of ‘Human Transit’. Jarrett stopped by our Montreal office for a quick 5 à 7 (and impromptu book signing) on the way to ATUQ. Along with Kevin Manaugh, Zvi Leve, MSc, E. Owen Waygood, and Jérôme Laviolette, we jumped on the chance to chat about everything from fare systems to maps and how we can create great bus services in Quebec and beyond. Thanks for visiting Jarrett! You’re welcome at Transit HQ any time 👋

Next week, we’ll be joining fellow transit data sages at the 2024 International MobilityData Summit, right here in Montreal. 🧙🏻 Our industry’s cleverest GTFS and GBFS wizards (including a few from our own ranks) will come up with concoctions that improve the common language we all use to share accessible, open, high-quality transit information. 🔮 Leave your crystal ball at home; everything you need is in the slides below

🏆 Make room in the trophy case - our partners at Pace Suburban Bus just took home a shiny new Center for Digital Government Special District Project Award! We’ve been helping Pace innovate their way to multimodal trip-planning greatness since 2022, and we’re over the moon to see this project recognized nationally. Congrats team! 🙌
Pace is proud to announce that the agency has been honored with a prestigious Center for Digital Government Special District Project Award for the groundbreaking Mobility as a Service pilot program! This award recognizes Pace's innovative approach to improving public transportation access and simplifying the rider experience with Transit, Pace's recommended trip-planning app. "At Pace, we’re always looking for ways to improve access and streamline our services for riders," said Pace Chairman Rick Kwasneski. "Our Mobility as a Service pilot has provided a unique opportunity to bring together different forms of transportation into one easy-to-use app. This allows riders to travel more flexibly and efficiently, bridging the gap between fixed-route services and demand-response options like never before." Good Morning Baltimore! We climbed our way to the top of Federal Hill and got all our Pink Flamingos in a row to partner up with MTA Maryland and we couldn’t be more thrilled 🦩🚍🎉 We’ve been cooking up a real feast for riders together, starting with a hearty helping of free Royale just for them. But to make sure the only thing crabby in Baltimore is what gets pulled out of the Chesapeake Bay, we’ve also got a fresh batch of Rate-My-Ride surveys and Rider Happiness Benchmarking ready to spice things up like a fresh bottle of Old Bay 🦀 Make sure to leave room for dessert though, because the marshmallow atop this transit snowball is looking extra sweet: live detours, coming soon 🍧

Duty calls! We’re putting our hockey allegiances aside and joining forces with the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) to rally against our common urban foe: detours ⚔️🚧🛡️ For the next 12 months, our detour detection pilot will valiantly defend Toronto’s bus and streetcar commutes from the woes of unexpected diversions. It will detect detours right as they happen, display their rerouted paths, and guide the city's 300k+ monthly Transit user stronghold to temporary stops all across the noble lands of Canada’s largest transit system 🗺️ Read more about it here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g4rFn_C9

Take some dedicated public servants, add some spicy conversation starters, and what do you get? A day of real talk about what it actually takes to make public transit work for riders 🏛️🌶️🚌 Our recent Transit Roundtable in Philly brought together some of our public transit heroes. Staffers from two dozen transit agencies joined us and together we dove into the nitty-Gritty – from real-time feed refresh rates, to communication flows when service goes sideways, to the next big app feature from Transit. They say you should never meet your heroes. Luckily, ours never disappoint. Check out our digest of the day’s events: https://lnkd.in/dGZ3-yVt
