Who put me in charge of managing a company’s money? From day one, The Creative Solution (TCS) threw me into a role that confused and challenged me. This semester, I automated TCS’s #accounting, secured crucial #grants for our clients, and prepped a comprehensive #financial summary. Sure, I made plenty of mistakes—overlooked functionality, overpaid taxes, and stuck too rigidly to processes. But every mistake was a lesson learned. In line with our mission to help the ambitious become legit, I’m embracing #transparency. “TCS pushes me to touch grass and try new things. 7 months ago, I figured my role at The Creative Solution (TCS) would only be about #coding. But I was wrong. Found myself knee-deep in 3D design and even trying my hand at #vlogging during our stint at the Cansbridge Fellowship Conference in #NYC. Who would've thought I'd be having fun (touching grass) and filming it in public every day? I admit, I was quite nervous, being a bit camera shy. Reaching a bad goal hurts. It hurts hard. At The Creative Solution, I set a goal to hit $40k in revenue for Q1 of 2024. As Vancouver’s first student agency, we thought this was an ambitious north star to chase after. Surpassing the goal almost destroyed us. It left us overlooking what really mattered in helping our team, clients, and community grow toward being more #legit. This summer, we’re pivoting our strategy! And we’re doing it in the open.
