In partnership with United Ways in major Canadian cities, we celebrate the #InvisibleChampions who transform human lives
About us
The Bhayana Family Foundation, in partnership with United Ways across Canada, sponsors the premier national awards program for excellence in the human services sector. It also advocates for recognition of the economic and social contribution of the Sector to Canadian Society along with National and Provincial Partners. Thus far the Governments of Nova Scotia, Ontario and British Columbia have either Proclaimed or legislated Days/Weeks of Appreciation. Our mission is to ignite excellence and strengthen the roots of Canadian communities by celebrating the Invisible Champions of the charitable and non-profit sector. The contributions that these professionals make to our social and economic well-being is immense. Yet all too often, their work is overlooked and undervalued. The Bhayana Awards, light-heartedly referred to as the "Oscars" of the non-profit sector, recognize the significant impact they have on our lives. Awards are given for excellence in Leadership, Innovation, Dedication, Partnership, Community Building and Team Achievement.

This year, #WorldMentalHealthDay reminds of the deep connection between mental health and the workplace. For nonprofit workers, the challenge is twofold. They are not only striving to solve immense societal issues, but often do so within environments where limited resources and intense demands take a toll on their own well-being. The theme this year—Mental Health at Work—hits home for the nonprofit sector. These dedicated individuals face emotional and mental strain as they support others, all while working in underfunded conditions with little access to mental health support themselves. Despite these obstacles, they continue to provide essential services that strengthen our communities. It's time for the sector and its supporters to rally behind these workers, advocate for improved resources, and create environments where they can thrive—not just survive. Governments, funders, and employers must collaborate to ensure that nonprofits have the support systems in place to protect the mental health of those on the frontlines of societal change. On this day, let’s recognize the critical role nonprofit workers play in our world, and take action to ensure they have the mental health resources they deserve.
