Our Sunwing Airlines team recently attended the annual #GirlsCanFly event at the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre. From sitting in the cockpit to testing out flight simulators, this event was designed to inspire young women and girls to discover the exciting opportunities in the aviation industry and at Sunwing. We were thrilled to be on site to support and meet the next generation of female pilots! Notre équipe de Sunwing Airlines a récemment participé à l’événement annuel #GirlsCanFly au Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre. Cet événement, créé dans le but d’inspirer les jeunes femmes et les filles à découvrir les possibilités intéressantes dans l’industrie de l’aviation et chez Sunwing, leur permet de s’asseoir au poste de pilotage ou d’essayer des simulateurs de vol, entre autres choses. Nous étions ravis d’être présents afin de soutenir et de rencontrer la prochaine génération de femmes pilotes!

Following our International Women’s Day event on Friday, where three all-female flights took off for paradise, we’re excited to share a few photos of our Calgary crew, including Captain Kelly Koprajda and First Officer Kailyn Foss, who led their team to Mazatlán. Our Calgary flight crew, together with our crews in Toronto and Montreal, were instrumental in the success of this milestone event. We’re excited to continue celebrating the shining women at Sunwing Airlines who inspire inclusion each and every day through more IWD events this month, including our impactful Brave Space Conversation!

Today, we celebrate our second annual International Women’s Day all-female operated flights, which took off today from Toronto, Montreal and Calgary airports to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Staffed by an incredible team of epic women, including Captains, First Officers, cabin crew, airport staff and more, these three flights are just one example of Sunwing Airlines’ dedication to breaking down social barriers in aviation and in the workplace. Today marks the beginning of Women in Aviation Week, a global aviation awareness week commemorating the anniversary of the world’s first female pilot license issued in 1910 and addresses gender discrimination in the aviation industry. It also marks the official kickoff to an impactful month ahead at Sunwing Airlines with several meaningful initiatives planned to continue the conversation, raise awareness and celebrate the achievements of women and our colleagues, from our second International Women’s Day all-female flights to our Brave Space Conversation series and more. At Sunwing Airlines, we're proud to be involved in several initiatives that honour and celebrate the legacy of Black people and their communities in Canada and across the world, celebrate their rich contributions and accomplishments and facilitate meaningful conversations. One such initiative took place on Monday, February 5th, when our inaugural Black History Month celebratory flight operated by an all-Black flight deck and cabin crew took off for Montego Bay from Toronto. This important milestone was made possible thanks to the involvement and participation of our Black employees operating across Canada and the incredible teams behind the scenes, all of whom are a true representation of our EPIC culture and values. This comes on the heels of another important airline initiative, when several team members and our young cadets took part in the Urban Pilots Network annual gala for the first time to support its mission to raise awareness of the important contributions of visible minorities in aviation. This gala, together with impactful events like our celebratory flight on Monday, are just a few of the ways our Black community have contributed to the continued growth of Sunwing Airlines and helping us get to where we are today.

The team at Sunwing Airlines was proud to be at the Urban Pilots Network's annual gala for the first time to support its mission to raise awareness of the important contributions of visible minorities in aviation. Attendance at this fantastic event was spearheaded by Captain Jeffrey Gill, Director of Line Operations, Michael Simmons and Manager of People and Culture, Esiya Lukonde, who were on site alongside several young cadets in uniform and many of our pilots connecting with and inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals. L’équipe de Sunwing Airlines était fière d’être présente au gala annuel du Urban Pilots Network pour la toute première fois afin de soutenir sa mission de sensibilisation aux contributions importantes des minorités visibles dans le domaine de l’aviation. Le capitaine Jeffrey Gill, le directeur des opérations aériennes, Michael Simmons, ainsi que la directrice des Personnes et culture, Esiya Lukonde, étaient présents à cet événement fantastique, aux côtés de jeunes cadets en uniforme et de plusieurs de nos pilotes qui ont inspiré et créé des liens avec la prochaine génération de professionnels de l’aviation.

November 17, 2023 marked the 18th anniversary of Sunwing Airlines flying our customers through the friendly skies. We would not be where we are today without the passion and dedication of our EPIC employees. To mark the occasion, we compiled a video featuring thank you messages from Len Corrado, President of Sunwing Airlines and members of his executive team, along with a slideshow of memories from the past 18 years. We look forward to a wonderful winter season with this EPIC team! Le 17 novembre 2023 marque le 18e anniversaire d’existence de Sunwing Airlines. Nous ne serions pas là où nous en sommes aujourd’hui sans la passion et le dévouement de nos employés EPIC.
