Settling into a new home can be challenging. Many of our Skip team members have moved to a new city, into a new role, or across the globe and we want everyone to feel welcome and supported at Skip. Our JETSetters community is a global Employee Resource Group doing just that: providing support, community and resources to newcomers across Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET). Our JETSetters - Canada chapter is ramping up their initiatives at #Skip. At their kickoff event, team members from all areas of the business mixed and mingled during an interactive get-to-know-you bingo game. They were tasked with finding colleagues in the room to match the bingo card prompts. Now attendees know more about each other including: whose email inbox is at zero, who has been in Canada for over five years, who can make a dish from their home country, who’s gone viral online, who knows a historical fact about Canada and more! The 2024 Stanley Cup® Playoffs have come to an end, but there is still one more trophy to be awarded 👀 (Spoiler alert… it’s going to a Canadian hockey fan!) Put your hands together to congratulate Stephanie Simone, CPA, CA, the triumphant winner of the fourth annual Skip x NHL® Bracket Challenge! 👏 We are proud to partner with the National Hockey League (NHL) and we love a little friendly competition when it comes to our nation’s favourite sport. Stephanie most accurately predicted the outcome of this year’s #NHLPlayoffs and now has a trophy to prove it! We don’t know where she keeps her crystal ball, but we can confirm she will be immortalized on the Skip Bracket Challenge Trophy at Skip HQ! In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day, we’re pleased to announce the second year of the SkipTheDishes Bursary for Indigenous Students in partnership with Indspire, a national charity that invests in the education of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada. Last year, the bursary was distributed to six Indigenous youth pursuing post-secondary education programs in Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan. We recently caught up with one of our bursary recipients, Phoenix H., who is in her second year of veterinary medicine at the University of Calgary, and shared that “the award has helped in more ways than you can imagine,” and allowed her to be the first person in her family to attend a post-secondary school. We’re proud to support another cohort of Indigenous youth pursuing post-secondary education, with a focus in 2024 on education in computer science and information-related studies. Research shows that Indigenous Peoples continue to be underrepresented in the technology sector, and through this bursary program, we hope to open more doors and create greater opportunities to ensure the tech industry is as diverse as the communities we serve. Meet Sarabjeet Kaur! Sarabjeet joined the Skip network as a courier when she first arrived in Canada, initially doing courier runs with her husband. She has since joined the Operations team at Skip and is now a Global Operations Manager! During her time with Skip, she has grown in her career from her initial role in Courier Onboarding to her current role in Global Operations.
