Our CEO, Anita Pawluk and Senior Communications, Indigenous and Government Relations Specialist, Melissa L., had the honour of attending the 30th Annual Cando EDO National Conference and AGM “Evolution & Growth: 30 Years of Inspiring Success” in Calgary, Alberta, this week. Anita was invited to join the "Current Trends in Indigenous Participation in Procurement & Supply Chains" panel alongside Bryce Starlight, Amit Patil, and Kris Ruiter as subject matter experts. During this discussion, we were also honoured to sit beside and collaborate with two of the winners of the Indigenomics 10 to Watch List as a 2024 nominee. The discussion focused on the evolution of Indigenous inclusion, strategies for communities and businesses, existing gaps, and the future direction of these trends. Anita emphasized the importance of expanding Indigenous participation in procurement, highlighting that the Indigenous economy must have a meaningful voice at the table when strategies, planning, and policies are being shaped. We are proud to have Anita and Melissa represent RaceRocks at this event, helping to advance conversations on Indigenous business and community inclusion and growth. Raising awareness around Indigenous businesses' capacity and capability to compete in procurement opportunities is crucial for building a more equitable and collaborative future🤝. #IndigenousBusiness

The RaceRocks team had the opportunity to showcase at DEFSEC Atlantic 2024 in Halifax. We announced our exciting partnership with Lockheed Martin, engaged in meaningful conversations with industry leaders, and learned about the latest trends and emerging technology in defence, aerospace, & security. Here are some of our key highlights from #DEFSEC2024: 🤝Collaboration between Industry and Academia: #DEFSEC emphasized the importance of partnerships between defence organizations and academic institutions to drive innovation, with a particular focus on advancing research and development. 🛡️Our North, Strong and Free: Speaking at DEFSEC, Jeff Tasseron shared an insightful analogy: “Be better riding buddies together. Recognize we’re all on the same trail together”. He emphasized the need for industry collaboration to align and move forward to strengthen Canada’s defence vision. 💻Distributed Learning for Military Training: There was excitement for adopting distributed learning, aiming to minimize time spent onshore for training. The focus is on providing flexible, scalable learning solutions that reduce the need for extended shore-based instruction. 📈Managing Scope, Scalability, and Flexibility: Industry leaders highlighted challenges in managing project scope and scalability, especially with emerging technologies. There is a clear need for flexible, modular training models that can scale with operational demands and adapt quickly to evolving technologies and defence priorities. #DEFSECAtlantic provided a platform to connect, collaborate, and explore new ways to address the evolving needs of the defence industry. Our commitment to innovation and adaptability drives us to develop training models that align with these priorities.
