Together with Sustain Ontario and Farm to Cafeteria Canada, Farm Boy is nurturing food knowledge and providing resources to support a healthier, more informed generation, through our Flagship Charitable Program: nourish to flourish! In its inaugural year, $55,000 in grants will be distributed to schools across Ontario. Grant applications officially open on September 9, 2024. A big thank you to the Burlington South community for the warm welcome at the Grand Opening of our 50th location at 3230 Fairview Street, Burlington, ON! We were thrilled to celebrate with everyone during a weekend full of fun surprises and delicious food. The festivities began bright and early on Thursday, August 15, with our official grand opening ceremony. We were honored to be joined by special guests, including Jean-Louis Bellemare, Farm Boy’s Founder; Michael Medline, President and CEO of Empire Company Limited and Sobeys Inc.; and Will, Farm Boy’s Biggest Fan and Honourary Ambassador. Shawn Linton, President and General Manager, and Alessandra Bisaillon, Director of Marketing and Media Relations, shared a few words before marking the occasion with Burlington Store Manager Jessica D., Jean-Louis, and Michael by ringing Lulu's cowbell in true Farm Boy fashion! We were also privileged to have Paul Sharman, Deputy Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor, and Laura Moretti, Manager of Resource Development at Food for Life food bank, join us during the ceremony as we presented a donation cheque. A big thank you to our wonderful customers and partners who joined us throughout the weekend for exciting surprises, giveaways, live music, a scavenger hunt, and much more. We are deeply grateful for the hard work of our dedicated Team Members, Vendors, and Agency Partners in making the Burlington South store opening a tremendous success. After Renata earned her spot on the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team, she played a crucial role in Team Canada’s success, contributing to their gold medal victory at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games and their silver medal finish at the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Games. As a prominent figure in women’s hockey, Renata is now a key player for PWHL Toronto, continuing to inspire and represent the sport both in Canada and internationally. She dedicates her summers to running her own girls’ hockey camp, nurturing the next generation of players when she isn’t training with the National Program. In recognition of her achievements and contributions to the community, Renata was awarded the Keys to the City for Burlington in 2022. Renata Fast’s journey from Burlington to the global stage is a testament to her impact and legacy in women’s hockey. Come meet Renata and cheer on Team Canada with us. Farm Boy is thrilled to announce, ‘nourish to flourish’, our new Flagship Charitable Program designed to support in-school meal programs and foster food literacy initiatives for schools across the province. Developed in close collaboration with Sustain Ontario and Farm to Cafeteria Canada, this program will cultivate an environment where children not only eat well but will also develop a deeper understanding for the origins and journey of food from farm to plate. 'nourish to flourish' is set, in its inaugural year, to provide $55,000 in grants to 30 Ontario schools.
