  • Article of the Month: Practicing What You Preach: The Impact Of Authentic Leadership On Organizational Success Britton Bloch, VP of Talent Acquisition Strategy and Head of Recruiting at Navy Federal Credit Union, emphasizes the importance of authentic leadership in maintaining trust and driving organizational success. According to Gallup research, only 23% of employees strongly trusted their leaders, leading to lower job satisfaction and motivation. The article highlights that leaders must align their actions with their stated values, as any inconsistency can erode credibility, employee trust, and engagement. Trustworthy leaders create positive environments where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered. Bloch proceeded to provide 5 keys to being an authentic leader:  1. Engage with employees' concerns: Leaders must foster two-way communication, encouraging honest feedback and solutions. 2. Value employees' uniqueness: Recognizing the individual value of each employee and promoting inclusivity is essential. 3. Practice empathy: Empathy fosters trust and innovation, helping create a supportive and engaging workplace. 4. Lead ethically: Integrity and authenticity are critical in building trust and fostering a positive organizational culture. 5. Think creatively and with sound judgment: Creative problem-solving helps leaders adapt to challenges and build innovative solutions. By practicing these qualities, leaders can cultivate trust, empower employees, and ensure long-term organizational success. • We are excited to share that our October 8 & 9 Leadership & Management Skills training for new and existing leaders was a tremendous success! • Article of the month: Four Questions for Every Manager to Ask Themselves Managers often confront time constraints as they balance their many responsibilities. The article suggests 4 questions managers should ask themselves to reflect on to improve their leadership. “Would I hire this person again?”: Inspired by Peter Drucker's advice, managers should evaluate whether each team member still fits the role. A "yes" affirms success, while a "no" prompts the need for feedback and strategies to enhance performance. “How often am I hearing dissent?”: Amy Edmondson's question searches whether managers encourage open debate. If dissent is rare, it may indicate a lack of psychological safety. “What should we automate?”: With AI advancements, managers should identify repetitive tasks that can be automated to boost productivity. However, automation should be coordinated to avoid inefficiencies from too many independent platforms. “How many people are leaving my team?”: While high turnover is bad, no turnover can signal that talent is being hoarded. Studies show that managers who promote employees attract better talent. The author put these questions together based on different studies and industry professionals, intending to help time-pressed managers reflect and refine their leadership. • Company culture is the "personality" of an organization! No wonder, it was ranked as the biggest driver of employee engagement at Shane Jensen, Changing People and Organizations poll last week with 83% of the votes. But what is company culture? It is a shared set of values, attitudes, behaviours, and practices that define how an organization operates both internally and externally. A company's culture isn't confined to a policy manual; it's often a living, evolving force that shapes the day-to-day experiences of employees. As you can see in our graphic, all those components are part of a company's culture! All together, having a great culture is central to employees’ work experience and a key driver of organizational success! When employees feel trusted, valued, and enjoy their jobs, they will improve performance and engagement! What are your favourite aspects of working in an organization with a great culture? #NewQuest #CompanyCulture #EmployeeEngagement #OrganizationalSuccess

  • 5 Team Building Activities At New Quest, we believe it is important for companies and organizations to curate, cultivate and maintain the working relationships employees have with one another, which is why team building is so important. For that reason, we compiled a list of 5 different activities that will be enjoyable as well as strengthening for employees and their working relationships with fellow peers: 1. Escape Room: Not only are escape rooms fun, but they also build team bonding, encourage communication among team members and teach them to think outside the box to solve problems. 2. Hiking: An overall easy activity to do outdoors. The team will navigate trails together, share responsibilities, and make decisions as a group. A great way to bond outside the workplace while enjoying nature and its perks. 3. Cooking Class: They are a fun and interactive way to get employees involved, alert and acquainted with one another through the art of food. Cooking in teams develops collaboration and creativity skills. 4. Trivia night: An entertaining activity that promotes collaboration, and camaraderie, and encourages healthy competition in a fun, relaxed environment. By answering questions across various topics, they will leverage each other's knowledge and strengths. 5. Scavenger Hunt: Excellent way to develop communication and problem-solving skills, while building trust with employees. Teams rely on each other to break down the task and work towards a common goal, rather than an individual one, which can be translated back to working together in an office setting. What are some of your favorite team building activities? #TeamBuilding #Activities #BuildingTrust #NewQuest

  • Article of the month: How to Set Transformation Targets That Actually Drive Change Many target-driven transformation programs fail to deliver lasting results. Based on research, Mankins and his team found that only 1 out of 12 companies had successful target-driven transformations that resulted in performance improvement. Based on the successful transformations, they discovered the differences between companies that succeeded and those that did not. These are the 4 key actions they found to improve success rate are: 1. Change leadership’s mindset around targets 2. Specify targets in absolute — not relative — terms 3. Use the company’s budget or operating plan to monitor success 4. Set more than cost-based targets By adopting these strategies, companies can better align their transformation efforts with long-term performance improvement!
