Imagine the possibilities if the Government of Canada was held accountable to sourcing from genuine Indigenous businesses. How would this shift the landscape of procuring goods and services for our communities and future generations?

A special thank you to NACCA and Magnolia Perron for the invitation to share some of my knowledge with Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs. After speaking, I was gifted this book of Stories from Indigenous Women Entrepreneurs. To my surprise, I found my story on page 33. It is an honour to be featured in the book. It is a privilege to have contributed to the research and creation of resources that are used within NACCA's Indigenous Women Entrepreneurship Program. The program is important to the prosperity on Indigenous women, their families and communities.

What an incredible experience it was to speak at the IWE conference in Vancouver yesterday, surrounded by inspiring Indigenous women entrepreneurs. Huge thanks to Michele Y. for hosting and to my friend Bobbie Racette—your impact was undeniable. During my talk, I shared key strategies from Getting to Yes by Roger Fisher and Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. Fisher’s win-win mindset, plus Voss’s tactical empathy, creates a powerful combination for mastering the art of negotiation. One memorable moment was sharing how Goodlawyer as a small (and very frugal) startup in 2021, negotiated a 500-person yacht party—showing just how powerful these principles can be. What resonated most, though, was hearing the passion these women have for building their businesses—just like I do. When one attendee asked how Indigenous women can gain the tools and confidence they need, my advice was simple: Surround yourself with entrepreneurs who are just a bit further ahead. Their experiences are invaluable. And the good ones always pay it forward. Proud to support this vibrant community and excited for what’s ahead. 🇨🇦🚀 #IWEConference #Negotiation #IndigenousEntrepreneurs #Goodlawyer
