GEO Certified! I am very proud to announce that Mickelson National Golf Club has become the first golf club in Canada to achieve GEO Sustainable Golf Certification. This recognition confirms we have met the Standard and also underscores our club’s efforts for environmental stewardship, resource efficiency, community engagement, and commitment to an ever-higher standard of sustainable practices and performance. GEO Certification is verified by third-party auditors as part of the credible GEO certification process. Verifier Will Fleming said, “Standing on this course, one is immersed in indigenous plant life that seamlessly integrates nature with golf. The course’s use of minimal machinery and chemicals, along with extensive hand weeding and manual bunker maintenance, also reflects a strong commitment to sustainability. I’m eager to see how the course will continue to grow its community ties and lead in environmental and social responsibility. Celebrating Our Commitment to Sustainability Mickelson National Golf Club is honored that this global accolade acknowledges the dedication and hard work of our entire team, from course management to clubhouse staff. Achieving GEO Certified® is a significant milestone, but it is also a steppingstone in our ongoing commitment to sustainable golf. When this certification was introduced in Canada at the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) conference in November of last year, we knew we wanted to pull our team together to earn the accolade, helping us credibly and proudly share the work we have been doing in this area. We are also hopeful that our leadership can inspire other clubs throughout Canada to join the sustainable golf community. “Congratulations to Mickelson National Golf Club on your leadership and dedication to sustainability through golf. This is a tremendous program, demonstrating both environmental stewardship and business value within the community. Being the first in Canada to achieve this full GEO certification is a very proud moment to celebrate.” – Jeff Calderwood, CEO, NGCOA Canada. "Congratulations to Mickelson National Golf Club for achieving the GEO Certification for Sustainability in Golf. Your initiative to become the first golf course in Canada shows your environmental leadership by embracing this program." – Kathryn Wood, CMP, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Golf Superintendents Association. GEO Quote: Our journey doesn’t end here. As we celebrate this achievement, Mickelson National Golf Club remains committed to continuous improvement and innovation in sustainability. We will continue to seek cutting-edge practices that can enhance the golfing experience and also contribute positively to our environment and community. Ideas and enthusiasm have started to come in from more and more people across our team, making sustainability a cornerstone of our operations.

Hello All, On behalf of our team, ownership, and myself, I am extremely pleased to share with you the hiring of our new Head Golf Professional, Mr. Bruce Rogerson.   Given the early reputation Mickelson National Golf Club has built, and building upon we were able to draw numerous validated candidates. The goal was to hire an accomplished industry leader who has continually been a standout in his or her profession. In addition to that we wanted the right fit for our club’s current position and ensure we could build around the wonderful team in the golf operations department. Bruce brings with him an enthusiastic sense of mentorship having graduated 7 young professionals to Head Golf Professional roles. This was especially important for the golf operations team to have a mentor styled leader to work aside as they seek senior roles for themselves. What we will soon experience is that Bruce is a resolute golf club hospitality enthusiast who is passionate about providing extraordinary experiences. With an impressive history as both a teacher and player, Bruce has built a reputation for excellence in the industry. He understands the importance of creating unforgettable moments and goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional service for members and guests. Whether it is organizing member events and or tournaments, corporate events, or providing personalized instruction, Bruce brings his expertise and love for the game to every aspect of his work. Bruce has been a key person in the membership process with experience in the push to private space which again was a key factor in our evaluations. With his deep knowledge of the golf business and unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, Bruce Rogerson is truly a standout professional in the world of golf club hospitality. Previous industry roles of recent the Director of Instruction - Performance Academy at Grandview Golf Club, Director of Operations at Muskoka Bay Resort and Head Golf Professional at Brantford Golf & Country Club. All his 20+ years of club operations have been at top 100 private golf clubs.  Bruce is married to his wife Lynn, and they have 3 children Britney, Brock, and Sydney. Bruce is extremely excited to be returning to Alberta where he was born and joining the team at Mickelson National Golf Club to further elevate its reputation on a local, provincial, and national level. In addition to welcoming Bruce, I am profoundly grateful to all that the current golf operations team has done during this transition. A huge thank you to Colton, Ryan, Jimmy and Josh as well contributions from Dave and Randy. We look forward to Bruce’s arrival to the club on April 9th of which he is most excited to meet the team and membership.   Kind regards, Miles Mortensen General Manager / Director of Golf Bruce Rogerson
