The rising number of international students in Canada over the past decade has been a topic of high public interest. New data released today provide an overview of the number and characteristics of international students at private colleges in Canada in 2021 (shedding light on the situation before the 2024 change in policy): https://lnkd.in/edwYJ6pu. • In 2021, an estimated 16,610 international students were enrolled at private colleges in Canada. This was less than 5% of all international students. • Most international students at private colleges (nearly 8 in 10) were concentrated in a small number of colleges where international students made up the bulk (75% or more) of the student body. • Over half of international students at private colleges studied business (38.5%) or liberal arts and sciences, general studies, and humanities (18.1%). • Just over two-thirds (68.0%) of all international students at colleges were at public colleges in Ontario.
