It was a pleasure and an honour for 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 to play an active part on the inaugural day of the 2024 Paris Infraweek meeting organised by Paris Europlace at the ministere economie to discuss how a shift in Infrastructure funding can / will contribute to a massive reduction of greenhouse gazes. ☘️🔋 It is a question 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 has been focusing on ever since the presentation of our first battery-powered 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙣 rail saw in 2017. Today, 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 offers a full range of more than 12 different zero-emission equipment to decarbonate railway infrastructure maintenance works. In fact, 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 is ahead of the game and we can only encourage governments working on regulations and railway operators seeking to reach their "net zero" objectives to speed up the transition to battery-powered machines. 🚆 Technical Insights at the Rapid Overhead Contact Line Renewal Systems Conference 🚆 Explore advanced technical solutions for OCS renewal. Here’s what you can expect at our upcoming conference: ❓ What are the major technical challenges of renewing aging OCS infrastructure? 👉 One key challenge is the heterogeneity of the existing network. The French rail network includes 1,5kV and 25kV lines, many of which are over 50 years old. Renewal must ensure minimal operational disruption while addressing capacity limitations and the varied conditions of different lines. ❓ What innovations are being implemented in OCS renewal methods? 👉 SNCF Réseau has introduced high-output OCS renewal trains capable of partial and full replacement of overhead components. For example, the 25kV lines require only cantilever replacement, while the 1,5kV lines involve complete mast and cantilever renewal. The trains have achieved impressive records, such as renewing up to 37 cantilevers in one daily slot. ❓ How does the use of high-output renewal trains improve efficiency? 👉 These trains enable rapid renewal with minimal impact online availability. By working within defined slots (up to 5.5 hours), the lines are returned to operational speed without additional tuning. The next step for 1,5KV Line will be the ability to perform work with an energized adjacent track further minimizes disruption to service in the beginning of 2026. ❓ What technical trade-offs are being made in OCS renewal projects? 👉 To optimize costs and operations, specific trade-offs have been implemented. For example, the partial replacement of 25kV OCS reduces material use and simplifies the process, while for 1,5kV lines, geotechnical calculations allow the reuse of existing foundations, cutting down on civil works and reducing time. ❓ How does the conference address the intersection of procurement and technology? 👉 A dedicated procurement strategy supports innovation by offering a design-to-cost approach, securing investments over a guaranteed five-year contract. The strategy encourages suppliers to offer tailored technical solutions while ensuring optimal performance across the entire renewal process. ❓ What are the expected performance metrics for the OCS renewal trains? 👉 The 25kV trains have consistently achieved renewal rates of 200-250 km/year, while the 1,5kV trains renew 100-150 km/year. Very impressive job and beautiful pictures from Australia where local Martinus teams used a number of 𝙂𝙚𝙞𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙧 𝙋𝙀𝙈-𝙇𝙀𝙈𝙨 motorized gantries during their 100-hour super possession.
TWO TURNOUTS AND A CROSSING LOOP: THE DAROOBALGIE INSTALL During our 100-hour super possession for Inland Rail, our crews installed two turnouts that will form the Daroobalgie crossing loop (D-Loop), a 2.2km stretch of track designed to enable freight trains to safely pass each other when travelling in opposite directions. The process involved removing track and surface preparation, followed by the deployment of our PEM-LEM system, which precisely positioned each pre-built turnout and integrated it into the existing track. We also sent in our ballast tamper and regulator to finish the job before heading to Wyndham Ave, where we successfully lowered 320m of track beneath the existing road bridge. The next stage of construction will involve laying the remaining track to connect the turnouts and complete the crossing loop, with testing and commissioning set for early 2025. #Martinus #TheMartinusWay #InlandRail
