Preserving Edmonton's past! 50+ years of fundraising in support capital projects and initiatives at Fort Edmonton Park.

About us

For 50 years the Fort Edmonton Foundation has raised funds, with community support, to bring buildings and memories to Fort Edmonton Park. Fort Edmonton Park is Canada’s largest living history museum, and a key part of the cultural and recreational makeup of Edmonton. The Park has been closed since 2018 to undergo a $165 Million Enhancement Project. Construction will be complete when Fort Edmonton Park reopens in May 2021 with four main enhancements including: - The Indigenous Peoples Experience - Expansion of the 1920’s-style midway - A new front entry plaza and guest services area - Expansion of the Hotel Selkirk Fort Edmonton Foundation’s current Community Capital Campaign is to raise $11 million and support these four major projects. When you donate to the Fort Edmonton Foundation you will help connect your contribution to the development of historical buildings, interpretive sites, artefacts and the living history experience of Edmonton. We preserve history and share a story for all generations to enjoy.

  • Nominate a leader today! 🏆 The Samuel A. Dickson award is presented to a Fort Edmonton Foundation supporter each year. Mr. Dickson gathered the community together as a Rotarian, member of the Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers' Association, and then as a member of the Edmonton Museum Committee. It wasn't until 1965 when Mr. Dickson was 89 years old that the discussion to develop a heritage park was brought to the City Council. In 1967 commitment was granted, in 1969 the Fort Edmonton Historical Foundation was founded, and in May of 1974, the gates to Fort Edmonton Park were opened! This award provides an opportunity for the Foundation to recognize and profile longstanding supporters. These supporters have dedicated their hearts, time, and financial gifts to the development of Fort Edmonton Park and the efforts of the Fort Edmonton Foundation. They are ambassadors and champions - much like Mr. Dickson. By honouring our donors and supporters with this award we help keep the legacy of Samuel A. Dickson alive. Nominations are now open and close March 31st 2025. To nominate someone visit: https://lnkd.in/gJdCVast
