Celebrating Women in Aviation Danae Henry, a passionate advocate for protecting our natural resources, has been awarded the FPL Xenia Morales—Women in Aviation Scholarship. This scholarship is a testament to Danae's unwavering commitment to environmental causes while advancing her career in aviation. Danae's journey in aviation began when she was just 13 years old and joined the local Air Cadets. Her dedication led her to an advanced aircraft maintenance course, where her passion truly took flight. Despite the challenges of the pandemic and a shift in academic focus, Danae found her true calling in Algonquin College’s aircraft maintenance program—a decision she proudly calls the best she's ever made. Danae is gaining invaluable hands-on experience with Transport Canada’s Aircraft Services Directorate, where she’s part of a dynamic maintenance team working on fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight simulators. Her journey perfectly combines technical skill, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence. After graduation, Danae plans to return to British Columbia to work towards her AME license, focusing on firefighting aircraft—an area close to her heart due to the severe wildfires that affect her home province. Her goal is to join the Mission Aviation Fellowship, where she hopes to use her skills to make a difference in communities that need them most. Danae's story inspires all women in aviation. It demonstrates that with passion and determination, the sky is truly the limit. We proudly support her journey and look forward to her future contributions to the aviation industry. Join us in congratulating Danae on this well-deserved recognition! #WomenInAviation #AviationCareers #AircraftMaintenance #ScholarshipWinner #FutureOfAviation #TeamFPL

As another incredible season comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate Team FPL's outstanding achievements. This year has been one of new benchmarks and milestones, showcasing our team's unparalleled talent. 🛩 Fleet Expansion We proudly expanded our fleet with three new AT-802s, ensuring we remain at the forefront of aerial firefighting and treatment application in Atlantic Canada. 🔥 Answering the Call Team FPL responded to interprovincial wildfire efforts, deploying assets to Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador. Our crews worked tirelessly to protect communities across Canada while continuing to safeguard our home province. 🌲 New Milestones in Action  Our field operations team set new records, treating 64,400 hectares in a single day and completing projects 13 days ahead of schedule. This is a testament to the team's precision, efficiency, and expertise. 🚒 Focusing on Safety Safety remains our top priority. We improved safety standards, including training YFC fire crews on FPL aircraft extraction techniques. 💪 Building a Stronger Future   More than 30 FPL team members completed Yellow Belt training as part of our Lean Six Sigma initiative. As we progress with Green Belt certification, we drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. 🎉 Celebrating Team FPL  We also celebrate our team members' personal and professional milestones, from Canadian citizenship to welcoming new family members and expanding skills through education and training. As we reflect on this season, we want to thank our partners, especially the Government of New Brunswick / Gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick and the Wildfire Management Branch, for their incredible support. Here’s to another successful season—and many more to come! #TeamFPL #NBProud

Building a strong network of alumni, students, faculty and community.

This UNB Faculty of Management BBA student spent his summer learning more about the accounting profession and expanding his skill set thanks to Co-op! Ali Awada completed his second Co-op work term with Forest Protection Limited in the accounting and finance department. His job involved posting invoices, processing payments, performing account reconciliations, updating budget files, validating expense reports, and preparing various month-end financial reports. “It was an incredibly rewarding experience. The company fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, and my team was not only professional but fun to work with. This exposure to practical accounting tasks has broadened my perspective of the industry, improved my organizational abilities and reinforced the importance of accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.” As he begins a new Co-op work term this fall with GEMTEC Consulting Engineers & Scientists Limited as an accounting assistant, he says, “My time with Forest Protection Limited has prepared me for this next step in my career, and I am looking forward to what the future holds.” Congratulations to Ali Awada and big thanks to Forest Protection Limited and GEMTEC for enhancing our Co-op students’ learning by showing them early in their careers how their knowledge and skills can have a tangible impact on businesses. #ExperientialLearning #UniversityofNewBrunswick #ProudlyUNB
