Each year, September 30th marks the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada and the National Day of Remembrance for the United States. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential and boarding schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of these schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process. Today we listen, learn and reflect on the wrongs of the past. Let us come together and build a brighter future together. This can be a difficult day for many, and we encourage you to reach out to your local mental health resources if needed.
