#TeamEquitable came together for our third annual musical happy hour in support of United Way Waterloo Region Communities. 🎵 Our people shared their many musical talents for an important cause in our community. Thank you to our talented team members for sharing your love of music, to our special guest Bob Egan for joining us and to everyone who attended to cheer them on! #EquitableGivesBack

Sometimes when you float and trust in life to carry you  the destination is the reward The week after leaving my day job to build a new career in public speaking, I felt like I was floating.  I was untethered from the schedule and responsibilities and location of this job, and I quite enjoyed the feeling of letting go and not being in control.  I knew I had a lot of work to do to launch my new career but I also knew that new things and opportunities would show up on my radar.  If I let them……..  All I had to do (as my good friend Sam Demma recently reminded me) was surround myself with good people and good things would emanate from that. Boy, was Sam ever right! My last week on the day job, I checked in a good person – Patti McKague, a kindred spirit who deeply believes like I do that music can lift up humanity and be a force for good.  At the end of our conversation Patti said “I have a favour to ask but I’m embarrassed to ask it of you.”  Without waiting to hear the actual favour I immediately said “Yes!  Of course, whatever you need.”  Talk about opening a door to the unknown! Beyond that door is what you see in this photograph – dozens of Equitable Life employees (and me) from the Region of Waterloo presenting an evening of music to raise money for the United Way!  We had a blast playing music and helped out a few folks in the process.  It does not get better than that! So, let’s raise a toast to being untethered, to getting comfortable floating, to saying “Yes!”, to surrounding yourself with good people and trusting that life will take you where you belong. #floating   #thegoodlife   #inspiration   #publicspeaking
