In recognition of this year's World Mental Health Day theme "mental health at work", Susan Seto, MBA, CAIP's looks into Four Stages of Psychological Safety in the workplace in her recent article. These stages—Inclusion, Learner, Contributor, and Challenger Safety—are crucial for creating an environment where all employees, particularly women, can thrive. By addressing the gaps in these areas, we can foster a culture that supports mental well-being and empowers everyone to bring their authentic selves to work. 🌐 Mastercard Emerging Leaders Cyber Initiative - Module 1: Canadian & Geopolitical Landscape 🌐 Over the last few days, I dove into 30 intense hours of learning, networking, and collaboration with an incredible cohort of female cybersecurity leaders, industry experts, and alumni. The experience was packed with invaluable insights, thank you Trish Dyl, Rebekah Brown, and Sarah Lang! 💡 Cybersecurity in a Rapidly Evolving Landscape: It's allowed me to think intentionally about cybersecurity and its implications for clients like banks, insurance, wealth management, and FinTech. - Vigilance is critical: We face countless vulnerabilities from something as simple as a USB port at the airport to a "wrong number" text message. With AI advancing so rapidly, your voice could be cloned in 3 seconds, and deepfakes are becoming scarily convincing. - Questions as a researcher: How aware are individuals & businesses of these risks, and how prepared are they? What are the brand repercussions of ransomware and data breaches? What does it mean for cyber insurance, FinTechs, wealth managers, advisors, etc.? 👩💼 As a Parent & Business Leader: - Parenting in a digital world: I can’t help but think about how we safeguard our kids. Cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated—how do we balance educating our children about online risks without taking away their freedom to just be kids? - Business responsibilities: How do we, as leaders, empower our teams, partners, and clients with the knowledge and tools to protect our business data? Proactive threat monitoring is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. 📊 Insights from our FinTech Study: In our annual Environics Research FinTech Syndicated Study, we've tracked Canadians' attitudes toward the balance between privacy and convenience since 2019. About half of Canadians are unwilling to trade their personal information for convenience, while the other half are either open to it or conflicted. But the story is about social values... - Those most open to sharing their information are strongly motivated by their values—they prefer authentic brands, embrace new technologies, and love new ideas. They connect with close-knit groups of friends, value diversity, and are excited about purchasing goods. They also place high importance on environmental concerns and have confidence in advertising. - On the other hand, those who disagree with sharing their information have a deep distrust of advertising and place little importance on brands. They are concerned about the amount of data collected by governments and businesses, feel intimidated by technological changes, and make purchasing decisions based on utility. They rely on logic and reason to control their emotions. As we continue to navigate this ever-changing digital world, it’s clear that cybersecurity is more than a technical issue—it’s a societal challenge that touches all aspects of our lives. #Cybersecurity #AI #SocialValues #Privacy #FinTech
