Economic Development Cowichan (EDC) is the economic development arm of the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD)’s Land Use Services Division. A key part of our mandate is to build connections between community, business, and local government.     🏘 Exciting Housing News in Duncan/ North Cowichan: 56 Affordable Homes on the Horizon The Province of British Columbia has announced a new project through the Rental Protection Fund to provide more affordable housing. Project Highlights: 🔹 Connective, a social-services non-profit organization, bought nine properties in Duncan and North Cowichan, including a 56-unit property at 3048 Lake Cowichan Rd. The building is mainly made up of affordable one- and two-bedroom units sought-after by smaller households, especially seniors, due to its proximity to the hospital. 🔹 This development is made possible through a collaborative effort involving the provincial government, local non-profits, and community organizations. 🔹 These new homes will provide Duncan and North Cowichan residents with safe, secure, affordable housing options. 🔹 The announcement is a step in the right direction for the community of Duncan and North Cowichan, where affordable housing has been a pressing issue.     The Circular Economy Accelerator Program, created by Synergy Foundation, provides hands-on support for businesses who want to adopt circular economy principles, reduce waste and emissions, and develop innovative practices. Early Participants of the program remarked how they quickly implement changes that have left measured impact on decreasing waste and increasing revenue. The accelerator program, which has available space for small and medium sized businesses across Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast, provides participants with an assessment and roadmap to make operational changes in both the short and long term.
