Our VP of Innovation and Human Resources: Chad Ford, had the honour of participating in a thought-provoking panel discussion at the International Economic Forum of the Americas Toronto Global Forum 2023, themed "Pioneering the Path to a Sustainable Energy Future”. The esteemed panelist Chad Ford Communica, Daniel Goodwin Suncor Pathways Alliance Raveel Afzaal, CFA Next Hydrogen, Chris McLeod Edmonton Global and Ted Gruetzner Global Public Affairs shared valuable insights and perspectives on how Canada can lead the way towards a sustainable energy future. Chad Ford’s key messages were: ✅ Canada has significant challenges and ambitious goals. If we are serious about achieving these, we will need to start building lots of major projects sustainably. Sustainability means not just meeting ESG requirements, but also being: on-schedule, on-budget and executes on its designed objectives. ✅ A comprehensive Indigenous economic reconciliation strategy for major energy projects is essential. ✅ More transparency and a streamlined regulatory process are prerequisites to attract capital for new major projects. ✅ Early and effective Indigenous and stakeholder engagement along with comprehensive stakeholder information management help projects be more sustainable, as per the criteria he laid out in the first point.
