The Barrie Transit Field Trip Pass Program offers Barrie elementary and high schools a convenient and cost-free way to transport students and teachers on educational outings. Each pass allows a class of up to 30 students and 5 adults to ride any Barrie Transit service, making it easier for schools to plan field trips without the expense of charter buses! Last year, 12 schools participated in the program and staff are anticipating interest again this year. About us
The City of Barrie is a vibrant, progressive and growing community with deep connections to our heritage, to nature and to the opportunities surrounding us. Our community values quality of life; the ability to play year-round with 300 hectares of park space, our beautiful waterfront, our lively downtown core and the nearby hills, wetlands and forests. We also value connections; to our neighbours and the community, to our road and rail network, and to the opportunity Barrie provides to enjoy life. Everything Barrie has to offer, from the water we drink to the roads we travel on, has one thing in common - municipal workers. Joining a municipality is one of the most rewarding, engaging and exciting careers you could choose. It is a career you can take pride in knowing that every day you make a positive impact on an entire community. We are one team, with one goal and we all work together to continue making our community great.

One of the many responsibilities of the Water Operations team is ensuring the integrity of the distribution system which directs potable water from the source to your tap. Watermain swabbing is done annually to clean watermains, which helps maintain water quality and increase the reliability of Barrie's water distribution system, while ensuring water meets aesthetic quality objectives, and flows freely. 📷: Watermain swabbing in north Barrie last month with Blair Guenther, Cameron Newitt, and Jason Giffen. A huge thank you to our amazing summer students! As summer winds down, we want to express our sincere appreciation to the incredible students who have greatly contributed to the City of Barrie. Each year, we welcome students across various departments including Recreation, Parks Operations, and Enforcement Services to name a few. Here’s what a few students have had to say about their experience: Juliana, Research Analyst: "The work environment was incredibly friendly, with a supportive team that fostered a positive and motivating work culture. This experience has been instrumental in my professional development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such meaningful projects.” Max, Recreational Programs: “I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to work for the City, as it has enabled me to develop and hone my leadership skills and become a more confident, productive, and inclusive leader. The responsibility of teaching youth ages 4-12 and ensuring the Fitness Centre remains functional has greatly enhanced my sense of responsibility and accountability in all areas of my life.” To all our students, your dedication and passion have truly made a difference this summer. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and look forward to seeing your continued success! 📷 Juliana Avelar, Max Nykoliation, Rahul Kumar #ThankYou #CityofBarrie #SummerStudents
