National Day for Truth and Reconciliation stands as a time for reflection where Canadians come together to commemorate the struggles and tragedies faced throughout history by Indigenous peoples on these lands. Wearing orange shirts, we collectively seek to deepen our understanding of Indigenous perspectives, and to embrace stories that highlight the personal and cultural devastation that Indigenous populations have faced on this land. In our communities, we recognize that we are facing a societal imperative. We must supportively engage with survivors in their healing journeys, and we must work hard to have meaningful conversations that fully and truthfully acknowledge the historical impact and significance of Colonialism in Canada. To truly move forward in a positive direction, we must each continue this important work together, not simply speaking up and for indigenous equity and justice, but working with and beside our indigenous neighbours to honour their knowledge, and to root out, challenge, and correct systemic injustices that still remain with us today. Truth and Reconciliation Day is only one calendar day. But its message is a powerful tool. The message of cultural resilience through truth, and the acknowledgement of the painful realities of the Indigenous legacy must be woven into the thoughts, attitudes, and actions of every Canadian all year long. Together, with open hearts and minds, we have the power to make real, positive, and lasting change. Only then can we begin to build a better future for us all. 🚨Office Closure🚨 📢Please be advised that BNH offices are closed on Monday, September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation! We look forward to serving you during our regular office hours on October 1, 2024 Learn more: 🧡https://lnkd.in/g96T7JPv 🧡https://lnkd.in/dyVmFuSd #WeAreNeighbours #BurnabyNH #BNH #officehour #officeclosure #longweekend #OfficeClosed #everychildmatters #nationaldayforTruthandReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay #TruthAndReconciliation #IndigenousLivesMatter #NDTR #ndtr2024
