We are proud to release our inaugural Stewardship Report, demonstrating BCI’s continued leadership in driving positive ESG performance and generating sustainable value for our clients through policy advocacy, proxy voting, and engagement. “BCI’s inaugural stewardship report builds on more than two decades of responsible investing,” says Gordon J. Fyfe, BCI’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer. “Active ownership is critical to delivering the returns our clients depend on both through the management of risks related to responsible investing and by capturing sustainability-related opportunities.” The report provides an in-depth look at how we leverage our influence as one of Canada’s largest asset managers to drive continuous improvement with our portfolio companies. Congratulations to Endeavour Energy (NSW) on achieving another five-star rating in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB)! We’re proud to see meaningful sustainability work being achieved across our investment portfolio. BCI invested in Endeavour Energy through our Infrastructure & Renewable Resources program in 2017.
A BRIGHTER, MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE: We’re thrilled to have achieved a five-star rating in the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) for the fourth consecutive year, with our highest score yet of 98/100. This places us third among 11 electricity distribution companies globally and seventh out of 119 public-private partnerships, demonstrating continued improvement up from 17th last year. Welcoming the results, our Chief Data, People and Sustainability Officer Melissa Irwin said “Sustainability isn’t just a commitment, it’s sits at the heart of our organisational strategy to decarbonise the grid, and is integrated into everything we do.” Endeavour Energy (NSW) is committed to be net zero by 2040, zero waste to landfill by 2030 and nature positive by 2025. “By using the GRESB framework, we continually challenge ourselves to enhance sustainability practices while benchmarking our performance against utilities across the world,” Mel said. “The results of this year’s GRESB Assessments are a testament to the positive impact our focus on sustainability is having in paving the way for a brighter future for our customers and communities.” Read the full story >> https://lnkd.in/gQGRAjDP A huge thank you to our teams and partners for their invaluable contributions to this achievement! Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day that honours the lost children, Survivors, families, and communities impacted by the residential school system in Canada. As we reflect on the painful history of residential schools and the intergenerational impact on Indigenous Peoples and communities across the country, we are reminded that truth and reconciliation is a year-round commitment. We all have a role in the collective journey towards truth and reconciliation.
