The British Columbia Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that helps fund the development, commercialization and scaling of made-in-B.C. clean energy technologies – from Canada to the world. We unite B.C. innovators, government agencies, academia, communities, non-profits and leading corporations around one primary focus: Accelerating the world towards a net-zero carbon future. Through its Open and Directed Innovation programs, CICE grants non-dilutive funding for clean energy projects that have the potential to significantly reduce GHG emissions and address ‘hard to decarbonize’ challenges. We fast-track credible world-class technologies and solutions with high impact potential in: - Low carbon hydrogen - Renewable natural gas - Battery technology and energy storage - Carbon management - Bioenergy, biofuels and synthetic fuels Together with our members, we expand the possibilities of clean energy innovation like the future of the planet depends on it. Thank you to Decentralised Energy Canada (DEC) for hosting an incredible few days in Whistler, BC! 🌟 The Decentralized Energy Forum was a valuable platform for industry, innovators, and stakeholders to engage in discussions about the future of decentralized energy solutions. Some interesting topics were discussed including quantum computing, demand response, and scaling innovation CICE is proud to have been part of insightful discussions, with our COO Todd Sayers tackling the issue of scaling decarbonization and innovation alongside Bob Baker from Alberta Innovates, Haley Jabusch from CLG - Energy Transition Centre, and Graeme Edge from Energy Disruptors and ScaleBlaze. Congratulations to the recipients of this year's Gamechanger Pitch Competition: Splice N Connect Inc.! They have received a minimum of $25K of seed investment from Valhalla Private Capital for their grid optimization technology. 🌊 Exciting news from Planetary Technologies! We are thrilled to announce that we’ve secured $11.35 million in Series A funding, led by Evok Innovations, with support from BDC Capital (Canada), Amplify Capital, DNX Ventures, and Iconiq Capital. 🌱 This investment represents a major milestone in our mission to fight #climatechange through ocean-based carbon removal. By enhancing the ocean’s natural ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide, we aim to protect and restore both the #ocean and our climate for future generations. 💬 As our CEO, Mike Kelland, shared: "We’re most excited by the strong alignment that these investors have with our mission. This round enables us to continue leading the way on responsible, science-led development of a critical climate technology.
