🌟 Aunties is thrilled to share the story of our brand's creation! Our emblem features two tulips, representing Founder Karen Smith's love for her daughters. The fresh and vibrant leaves form a protective arch, emphasizing our values of nurturing, family, and community. 🎨 Our colors reflect the liveliness and energy of our community (Green), the sacredness and spirituality of our work (Plum), and our creativity and innovation (Orange). 🌀 The four circles on our icon represent emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being, as well as the coming together of diverse communities and the cycle of the four seasons. 💪 Our logo embodies the strength in unity, the power of traditions, and the warmth of home. Join us in celebrating our brand's story! For more information on Aunties and to see our menu, please visit our website at www.auntieskitchen.ca

Honoring Truth and Reconciliation as a Collaborative Entrepreneurial Community Earlier this week, it was a privilege to come together with Indigenous Entrepreneurs and our partners at the ADAAWE HUB to host a Truth and Reconciliation event at Cours Bayview Yards on the traditional unseeded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg People. It builds on the initial steps we have taken together in our DE&I journey, including our collaboration with Pow Wow Pitch and entrepreneurial International Women's Week events. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the first anniversary of ADAAWE. We are very grateful to Magnolia Perron, Indigenous Women and Youth Program Officer at NACCA and ADAAWE, for her leadership in our community. She shared these inspirational opening words with our team: "Reconciliation is a long-term commitment that requires listening, relationship building and taking enduring steps that weave relationships that last. " She also moderated the Indigenous Business Panel featuring entrepreneurs supported by ADAAWE and Invest Ottawa: • Angela Ashawasegai, Founder of Indigenous Wellness Canada • Ashley Clark, Founder of Bougie BirchGavin Decontie, Founder of Decontie CleanKaren Smith, Founder of Aunties Kitchen Inc Heartfelt thanks to all founders for taking the time to share your inspiration and actionable insight with us, and for all of your contributions to our economy and community. Miigwech. We are very grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with you, our partners at ADAAWE and NACCA, and continue taking steps towards Truth and Reconciliation as a critical part of our DE&I journey. This special event enabled us to come together to share knowledge, create new opportunities and drive economic growth. It aims to help take action on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations for Business (# 92) as part of our journey (which reads): We call upon the corporate sector in Canada to adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a reconciliation framework and to apply its principles, norms, and standards to corporate policy and core operational activities involving Indigenous peoples and their lands and resources. We know we have a long way to go to help drive meaningful, impactful and sustainable change. We look forward to continuing our journey with our friends and partners at ADAAWE, NACCA, Pow Wow Pitch and Indigenous Entrepreneurs across our region. This event is one step that underscores how we can work together to support and empower indigenous entrepreneurs as a collaborative community. There are many more steps to come. We invite you to join us at the ADAAWE Indigenous Holiday Market, a celebration of Indigenous culture, art, and entrepreneurship on November 25. This event is a wonderful opportunity to support local Indigenous artisans, connect with their unique creations, and celebrate the holiday season in a meaningful way.
