This Cyber Security Awareness Month, our Gold sponsor Mariner Partners reminds us that your email is the gateway to your digital world. Here are some essential tips to protect your inbox from lurking cyber threats: 🔑 Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Think of MFA as your digital deadbolt—an extra layer of defense that makes it tougher for hackers to break in. 🔍 Review Account Activity: Regularly check for unusual logins or activity. If anything seems off, change your password immediately! 📶 Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Email Access: Public networks can leave your data exposed. Use a VPN if you need to access emails on the go. 🛡️ Set Up Email Filters: Keep phishing emails out of your inbox by setting filters that divert suspicious messages to spam. 🧹 Clean Up Your Inbox: Delete old emails with sensitive information and empty your spam folder. It’s like sweeping out the digital cobwebs! Stay vigilant and safe this October! #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #EmailSecurity #StaySecure

In today’s evolving threat landscape, securing every aspect of your organization is critical – including your cyber insurance policy. Here’s an essential tip for cyber security awareness month from our Silver sponsor, Veeam Software: Secure your cyber insurance policy with the utmost care: 1️⃣ Keep it separate from the rest of your infrastructure. 2️⃣ Consider going old school – keep it paper only! Why? If threat actors gain access to this valuable document, it can provide them with crucial information, compromising your defenses. Let’s take proactive measures to safeguard our businesses from potential attacks. #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #CyberSecurity #Veeam #CyberInsurance #AtlanticSecurityConference #DataProtection #StaySecure

Today, in the early morning, my mom and I said goodbye to my dad, Andrew Butcher, after a brief but courageous battle with stage 4 brain cancer. After only being diagnosed a little over a month ago, the cancer progressed far quicker than anyone could have thought. My dad dedicated the majority of his life to IT security and was a strong advocate for the cyber security sector and community in Atlantic Canada and beyond. He will be truly missed by so many. And while I have chosen a different career path, I hope to continuously leverage his insights and strategic thinking into my own progression. When in doubt, I’ll always pause and think “what would dad do?”
