(le français suit) What a powerful hydrographic start for Arpentage PCB of Sainte-Marie (QC)! Just a few short days after taking ownership of their brand new R2Sonic 2020-V Plus last August, the crew was already on the water with multibeam expert, Mike Brissette, for field testing and training. Arpentage PCB was awarded three survey contracts in the Rimouski (QC) area, totalling approximately 30 square kilometres of shallow (0m-15m) coastal waters. In addition to their new system, they also equipped a second boat crew with a second 2020-V Plus to double their performance. Both crews worked the next 30 days and several nights to cover the areas, and fortunately, only faced a few days of bad weather where they concentrated on data processing. As if that was not a big enough undertaking, a week or two into the job, one of the crews took a day off to drive up to Montreal to assist one of Boatmen Montreal's clients locate a lost boat anchor that urgently needed to be recovered. For this operation, Arpentage PCB made use of R2Sonic’s Ultra High Frequency (UHR) 700kHz technical mode feature. With a bit of advice from veteran expert Mike Brissette (R2Sonic), the anchor location was identified and confirmed almost immediately. Congratulations to Arpentage PCB! Lockheed Martin Corporation Acquires Two Moving Vessel Profilers (MVP300) As part of Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), Irving Shipbuilding Inc. along with Lockheed Martin will be building and outfitting two Arctic and offshore patrol ships (AOPS) for the Canadian Coast Guard. These ships, Donjek Glacier and Sernilik Glacier, operate as the primary protection enforcement and conservation vessels on the east coast of Canada. For AOPS 7 & 8 #AMLOceanographic will proudly be supplying MVP300 systems to Lockheed Martin. The MVP300 is a self-contained profiling system capable of sampling the water column to depths of 300m from a vessel speed of 12 knots and deeper depths at slower speeds. The system provides near vertical profiles for oceanographic data collection of Sound Velocity, Conductivity/Temperature/Depth (CTD), and other parameters for various operations including the calibration of multibeam sounder systems for hydrographic operations. Built in Canadian manufacturer AML Oceanographic’s Atlantic office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, over 200 MVP systems have been supplied to organizations around the world seeking to reduce the technical and financial unpredictability of hydrographic and ocean science surveys. With over 50 years of oceanographic expertise, AML Oceanographic has a market reputation for going to the ends of the earth to make our customers successful. #MovingVesselProfiler #AOPS
We're extremely excited to announce a new member of our sales team! Neal Adamson is joining our team as Sales Manager for our Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Currently, AMLers Leo and James are in New York. #AMLOceanographic is a sponsor of Norbit's Bathymetric Multibeam Operators Course. This week AML got to present on the importance of sound speed in multibeam surveys, the #MVP and the value in increasing the number of casts taken during survey operations. Leo was also lucky enough to take part in some demonstrations. Thank you NORBIT Subsea for having us!
This past weekend was a big one for our team. For the first time - ever - all AMLers were together, in person! Some of you may remember we celebrated our 50th at #OceanologyInternational with our wider community this year.. well this weekend was dedicated to celebrating with the team. As we often say, it's truly the people that make AML. All together in the office this week, AMLers saw presentations on the history of #AML from COO Chris Bueley and the future of AML (hint, it's big!) from CEO Robert Haydock. On Thursday night Robert hosted the crew at his house for a dinner party. On Friday, AMLers enjoyed a boat cruise around the Inner-Harbour in Victoria, BC. Moments like this are so special for a team with distributed workplaces like ours. Cheers to a weekend of festivities and cheers to the next 50 years! #AMLis50

One of the many benefits seen with the use of a #MovingVesselProfiler (MVP) is improved safety for crew members. The video below shows the MVP operating in Sea State 7. Thanks to the automated, real-time underway profiling solution, there is no need for personnel on deck during profiling operations. As you can see, this is particularly critical in extreme conditions. Interested in learning more about the MVP and its benefits? Reach out to [email protected]
