Yesterday’s webinar on workplace mental health, featuring Dr. Jennifer K. Dimoff, PhD, gave us some eye-opening insights just in time for World Mental Health Day. The statistics are staggering—69% of workers experienced symptoms of burnout in the past year alone (Mental Health Research Canada). But the conversation was more than just numbers. It was a call to action for employers to play a key role in supporting their teams. Dr. Dimoff outlined the critical elements of an effective mental health strategy. First step? Know the outcomes you want to achieve. Is it higher retention? Better engagement? Less regrettable attrition? Then, build your strategy by focusing on four main pillars: know your data, prevention, recognition and response. These are crucial steps to create workplaces where everyone can thrive. Next week, we’ll be sharing more key takeaways—stay tuned! In the meantime, here are some resources for you to consider: Articles  Fast facts about mental health and mental illness: https://lnkd.in/eRR4d8wi   What is the “Great Exhaustion”?: https://lnkd.in/g5uPfJv5   Reports  Mental Health and the High Cost of Living – Mental Health Commission of Canada: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://lnkd.in/eh87eQ-Q Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace October 2024 update - Mental Health Research Canada: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://lnkd.in/eZ4rhyxB    Training  The Mental Health Commission of Canada offers a range of training options: https://lnkd.in/eVDTrCWG    Have questions or comments? Leaders, HR professionals and employees, have you noticed some people in your workplace feeling a bit disengaged or overwhelmed, perhaps deflated or fatigued? We’re hearing more about mental health challenges these days and reading more about their impact on the workplace, too. In fact, the Mental Health Commission of Canada estimates that mental health issues cost our economy $50 billion annually, with employers shouldering $6 billion in lost productivity. What can you do? While many of us, as employers, have enhanced our EFAP and introduced flexible work options, we still see that some people are struggling. If you’re looking for ideas and practical actions to boost the mental health outcomes in your organization, register now to join us at our next webinar on October 9 at 1:00 p.m. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gyyaDR_v Featuring Dr. Jennifer K. Dimoff, PhD, an author, speaker and renowned workplace mental health researcher at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, in conversation with Kathryn Tremblay (She/Her), the Co-founder of Altis Recruitment, this data-packed session will help answer some key questions around workplace mental health, including:   ▪️ What is the state of mental health in Canada’s workplaces?  ▪️ How can you identify gaps in your mental health strategy so you can plan more effectively?  ▪️ Why is it important for employers to offer mental health training in the workplace?  ▪️ How can you select and train leaders who can have a meaningful impact on workplace mental health?  ▪️ And more We hope to see you there so we can learn and grow together. After all, a healthy, productive workplace requires healthy employees. #mentalhealth #wellbeing #leadership

Today, we’re celebrating 15 INCREDIBLE YEARS of the one and only Liesa Weinrauch, who has been a shining light at Altis Recruitment, leading internal recruitment and championing our culture as our Senior Talent Acquisition Partner! 🌟 Liesa, your journey from the Toronto office to leading our North York office and now leading our internal recruitment team has been nothing short of inspiring. You’ve worn so many hats—account manager, team lead, brand ambassador—and done it all with a positive attitude and unmatched dedication. Here’s just a glimpse of what makes you so amazing: ▪ You’re a master at balancing the professional and personal, juggling leadership, internal hiring and recruitment marketing while still managing to write anniversary songs and raps for us. 🎶 ▪ You’re the ultimate team player, always connecting with hiring managers and candidates, matching people with the roles they’re meant for like a recruitment wizard (maybe your recent Harry Potter binge has something to do with it). ⚡🎬 ▪ You’re detail-oriented and intuitive—whether it’s crafting recruitment strategies or saving weekly reports long after they were needed, you leave no stone unturned! ▪ You have a passion for fostering inclusivity, always championing DEI and making sure everyone feels valued and welcomed in our community. 🌈 ▪ You’re an apple-picking enthusiast…who doesn’t like apples! 🍏 Your love for chocolate, though, is legendary (and fully supported by the team). 🍫 ▪ You bring joy to every office with your infectious laugh and sunshine smile...even technology can’t resist you (though it seems to break down when you’re around). But that just shows your power, right? 😂 ▪ You’re a creative force—from your love of singing and performing to bringing karaoke magic to your birthday parties. 🎤 Plus, you’re the only person we know who made a spectacular ballroom dancing debut in their first week at work! 💃 ▪ You’re also a loving mom to Maddie and Kurt, who adore your annual family camping trips, and a proud cat mom to Calculon. 🐾 And of course, we can’t forget your love for “Friends” marathons—could you be any more awesome? ▪ You’ve become the ultimate Altis brand ambassador—your enthusiasm, professionalism and high standards reflect everything we stand for! Liesa, your energy, creativity and warmth make Altis a better place, and we’re beyond lucky to have you. Here’s to many more years of collaboration, laughter and, of course, chocolate! 🎉 #CelebratingLiesa #WorkAnniversary #15YearsOfExcellence #TeamAltis

What do reading and running have in common? 📚 👟 They’re two ways our team had some fun while giving back this month! To celebrate International Literacy Day (Sept 8), we held a novel (pun intended) book drive! Team members dusted off their gently used books and donated them to local libraries across Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver. It was the perfect way to give old favourites a second life, help make reading more accessible and be eco-friendly at the same time. We’re proud to say we donated over 100 books, spreading the joy of reading in our communities! And on Sept 15, the Altis crew across Canada laced up their running shoes for the annual Terry Fox Run + Walk. This event is hosted in cities nationwide, so it was a fantastic way to come together as ONE TEAM, no matter where we were. Some of us ran, others walked, jogged, or even skipped to the finish line, all to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. How did your team get involved in giving back this month? Share your stories with us in the comments! 👇

WOW, what an incredible day at the 2nd Annual Altis Bocce Battle! 🎉 We’re thrilled to share that we raised over $60,000 for Christie Lake Kids—that’s $15,000 more than last year! Every dollar goes toward giving disadvantaged youth and kids the chance to experience after-school programs, summer camps and leadership-building opportunities through CLK’s leaders-in-training program. 🌟 This year’s tournament was held at Wesley Clover Parks in honour of our late co-founder, Toni Guimaraes, who had a passion for bocce ball and was a proud CLK alum. It was a day filled with fun, laughter and friendly competition, all under a beautiful, sunny sky. ☀️ ️Huge congratulations to First Avenue Investment Counsel Inc.’s Jason Hunt, CFP®, CIM®, CIWM and team for taking home first place! 🏆 And a big shout-out to RBC’s Janet McKeage CFA, PFP, Glenn Sheen (he/him), and their crew for a close second-place finish. We can’t say enough about the amazing support we received—from the 24 teams repping Ottawa’s business community to friends, CLK supporters and our 30+ Altis team members who gave their time. Special thanks to our superstar event organizer, Nicole Vanbergen, and a big high-five to The New HOT 89.9 FM for keeping the beats going all day long! 🎶 Grateful to Vittoria Trattoria and Stacey Nininger Santaguida for donating our awesome prizes and to Wesley Clover Parks, Karen Sparkes and all our vendors for helping make the day run smoothly. And of course, thank you, Caroline Phillips for capturing all the fun moments—check out her great piece in the Ottawa Business Journal: https://lnkd.in/eVsAK3_p We’d also like to thank Ottawa Business Journal for being our media sponsor. And our very own Lynda Connerty for the fantastic photos! 📸 We’re already counting down to next year’s Bocce Battle! 🎯 #AltisBocceBattle #ChristieLakeKids #GivingBack #BocceBallFun #OttawaCommunity #TeamAltis

As fall approaches, recruitment scams tend to increase, often targeting job seekers looking for seasonal work or a fresh start after summer. We want to take a moment to remind our candidate community to be cautious of suspicious job offers, upfront fees, and “too good to be true” opportunities. Remember, you will never hear from our staff through WhatsApp. And while we occasionally send text messages to candidates in our network about career opportunities, we never request personal information from a job seeker via SMS. We understand how frustrating these experiences can be for job seekers, and we want to help keep you informed so you don’t waste your time, effort, or funds on false leads. To learn more about recruitment red flags to watch for, read our blog here: https://lnkd.in/gd3AyeKV    #recruitmentscams #jobsearchtips #fallhiring
