About us
The Alberta Chamber of Resources (ACR), originally founded in 1936 as the Alberta and Northwest Chamber of Mines, is a member-driven organization involved in resource development in Alberta. ACR members include mining, energy, forestry, pipelines, power generation, utilities, minerals, transportation and construction sector companies – those that create resource-based products and that provide the diverse infrastructure, products and services essential to resource development. Among Canadian and international resource industry organizations, ACR is unique in its focus on Alberta; in bringing together companies across sectors and functions, as well as creating space for communication and collaboration among the members and between resource companies and development stakeholders. Vision Alberta’s diverse resource sector is understood, valued and successful. Mission ACR provides cross-sector leadership for the strategic and responsible development of Alberta’s natural resources. Shared Beliefs The ACR and our members believe in: - An approach that considers the economic, social and environmental impacts of resource development. - Co-operation and collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders, respecting their diverse viewpoints. - Developing solutions to address issues that are critical to Alberta’s natural resources. The focus of ACR is cooperatively developing solutions to the challenges and opportunities to resource development in Alberta. This is achieved through the actions of our member committees and working groups. Through these cooperative efforts, ACR members are involved in supporting the resource sector and benefit from the collective knowledge and networks created by our organization. The value of our resources has made Alberta—and Canada—one of the best places in the world to live and work. Resource extraction has improved the quality of life in our province. We are committed to continuing the responsible development of resources in Alberta.

Calgary-based TC Energy is selling a minority stake in its Western Canadian natural gas transmission network to a consortium of Indigenous communities in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan for $1 billion. Earlier today, ERA, along with Minister Rebecca Schulz, announced a $5 million investment from the Government of Alberta to support the production of battery-grade Lithium Carbonate from locally sourced industrial brine at E3 Lithium. “There is a critical minerals race happening worldwide, and Alberta is setting the pace. Home to Canada’s largest brine reserves, well-documented drill sites and a talented oil and gas workforce, our province is the best place for E3 Lithium to get this great technology closer to commercialization. Together, we are supporting jobs, diversifying the economy, and creating a brighter energy future where Alberta is a global leader in lithium production,” said Rebecca Schulz, Minister of Environment and Protected Areas. Traditionally, lithium-containing brines were treated as a byproduct of oil and gas extraction and re-injected underground. However, with Lithium’s novel technology, it is possible to extract this vital mineral. This presents an opportunity to access this high-demand resource. Alberta has substantial reserves, documented drill sites, and the expertise of its oil and gas workers. Congratulations to Silicon Ranch Corporation on reaching commercial operations in Alberta's Industrial Heartland. This is history in the making. The 58-megawatt facility is the largest behind-the-meter solar project in Canada. It has the ability to supply the Shell Scotford Energy and Chemicals Park with enough renewable energy to power approximately 20% of the refinery’s energy needs for the next 25 years and provide 100% of its electricity needs at peak capacity.
Silicon Ranch is pleased to announce that our Scotford Solar Project has reached commercial operation near Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. Scotford Solar represents an especially significant milestone in our history because it is the first of our projects to be located outside of the United States. Built to support Shell's Energy and Chemicals Park near Edmonton, the 58-megawatt (MWac) facility is the largest behind-the-meter solar project in Canada, and the first utility-scale solar project to be built in Alberta's industrial heartland region. The Scotford Solar Project has the ability to supply Shell’s facility with enough renewable energy to power approximately 20% of the refinery’s energy needs for the next 25 years and to provide 100% of its electricity needs at peak capacity. As with every Silicon Ranch project, this facility will be run according to our distinctive and disciplined business model: we will own, operate, and maintain the project for its entire lifecycle, putting down roots as taxpayers, landowners, and neighbors in local Strathcona County.
