The BC Hydro fleet consists of 3,000 vehicles including passenger vehicles \(e.g. cars, SUVs, passenger vans\), light vehicles \(e.g. pick-up trucks, commercial vans, flat deck trucks\), heavy vehicles e.g. man lifts, digger derricks, crane trucks\), mobile machines \(e.g. fork lifts, self-propelled man lifts\) and trailers \(e.g. pole trailers, reel trailers, utility trailers\). Fleet Services delivers the service via a main maintenance garage, satellite workshops and mobile work shops. As an apprentice in this trade, you would: * Perform regular maintenance inspections conforming to regulatory requirements and Fleet Services practices mainly on heavy equipment \(heavy trucks, pickup trucks, vans, trucks with service bodies, forklifts, self-propelled man lifts, pole trailers, reel trailers, utility trailers, tilt trailers, and highway tractor trailers\) * Repair deficiencies discovered during maintenance inspections mainly on heavy equipment * Diagnose and repair failures causing machine breakdowns mainly on heavy equipment * Overhaul heavy equipment Qualifications: This trade will interest those who enjoy performing hands-on physical work.
