This 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is finished in Torch Red and was converted to convertible configuration by the PREFIX Corporation of Rochester Hills, Michigan in conjunction with Skunk Werkes. The 5.7-liter LS6 V8 was also modified with a revised camshaft, throttle body, cylinder heads, and Corsa Performance exhaust system and sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The car was reportedly displayed at the 2002 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada and owned by Ken Lingenfelter before the selling dealer’s 2023 acquisition. Additional equipment includes a black convertible soft top, a lowered suspension, Baer cross-drilled and slotted disc brakes, 17″ and 18″ alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, aftermarket bucket seats, Simpson five-point harnesses, carbon-fiber door panels, a short-throw shifter, dual-zone climate control, a Kenwood touchscreen head unit, and a Bose sound system. This C5 Z06 convertible conversion has 34k miles and is offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a window sticker, assorted literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Louisiana title.

The C5 Z06 was only offered as a fixed-roof coupe, and this Torch Red example was converted to convertible configuration and fitted with a black soft top by the PREFIX Corporation under prior ownership. A Skunk Werkes body kit consists of a cowl induction hood, straked fender vents, a wrap-around rear spoiler, and front bumper cover and rocker panel extensions. Additional elements include mesh grille inserts, pop-up headlights, Z06 fender badges, and rear brake vents.

Chrome 17″ and 18″ alloy wheels are mounted with 265/40 front and 295/35 rear Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tires. The Z06 suspension featured a larger front stabilizer bar, increased damping, and a higher spring rate than the standard Corvette, and this example has been lowered. The car is equipped with active handling and traction control systems, speed-sensitive rack-and-pinion power steering, and Baer cross-drilled and slotted rotors.

The aftermarket bucket seats are upholstered in black leather with red accents that extend to the lower dashboard and door panels, center console lid, and shifter and parking brake boots. Appointments include Simpson five-point harnesses, leather-wrapped decorative roll hoops, carbon-fiber door panels, brushed nickel trim pieces, and a short-throw shifter with a billet knob in addition to dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and an onboard computer. The Bose sound system incorporates a Kenwood touchscreen head unit with a backup camera as well as an Alpine amplifier and a concealed subwoofer in the cargo area. A leather- and suede-trimmed steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline along with gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 34k miles.

The 5.7-liter LS6 V8 was based upon the contemporary LS1 and features a refined aluminum block, a higher-lift camshaft, a 10.5:1 compression ratio, and increased air and oil flow. This example was fitted with a Katech upgrade package featuring a Donaldson “Blackwing” airbox, a carbon-fiber engine cover, and a revised camshaft, throttle body, cylinder heads, and exhaust headers.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. A Corsa Performance titanium exhaust system has been fitted.

A tag affixed to the left door jamb designates this car as a Z06 Limited Edition enhanced by the PREFIX Corporation of Rochester Hills, Michigan. A window sticker and magazine articles featuring the car are included in the sale along with an owner’s manual, the cover for which has been signed by John Cafaro.
