Transocean announce new contract for the Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 - Ultra Deepwater Drillship. The KG1 has been awarded a 300 day contract with Reliance Industries Limited for six (6) wells offshore India. The contract is expected to start second quarter of 2026. With the day rate expected to be around the 400K/Day it’s all adds up to an expected bag log of $123Million this is excluding additional services and Mobilization. Also sighted are multiple options and if exercised could keep the KG1 in India till Q4 2029 Certainly great news for the world biggest contractor and the industry. Transocean to sell the Development Driller III and the Discoverer Inspiration for a fee of $341 Million for the pair. The deal is expected to take place in the 3rd Quarter of 2024, depending on regulatory conditions. The buyer at this stage has not been disclosed. “Not wanting to speculate but why not, with recent similar aged units which have been kept fairly warm Brasil could be a good guess, let’s see” - DS pure speculation 🤔 Any takers please feel free to drop your guess in the comments. Transocean has entered into agreements with an undisclosed third party to sell semisubmersible Development Driller III and associated assets for $195 million and drillship Discoverer Inspiration and associated assets for $147 million. The Development Driller III or DD3 is a 2009 KFELS/MSC/DSS51 6th Gen Semi Sub presently in Aruba taking some sun after its last gig with TotalEnergies off Suriname in 2023 And the second part of the deal the Discoverer Inspiration also built in 2009 is a UDW 6th Gen 12,000ft Enhanced Enterprise Class has been warming up in the Canary Islands since departing the GOM earlier this year. This shows the attitudes to keep these still marketable units in a warm state most certainly has paid dividends. With no clear work on the horizon for 2024 selling the units is the fiscally sound approach. Let’s see where they end up, with ears to the ground we will keep you posted. Congratulations to Transocean for letting the units get out and dig more ditches and not sending them for razor blades, which we have all seen take place with younger units recently in the industry. BREAKING NEWS- The waiting is over Noble Corporation & Diamond Offshore are days away from the Mega-Merger like none other. (Expected 4th September 2024) It’s been reported that the regulatory bodies have aligned and both Diamond and Noble have a clear path forward for the Industries highly anticipated merger to start turning to the right. Following the earlier announcement in June 2024 the waiting period had expired in July 2024 under the HSR Anti-trust Improvement Acts we could be a matter of days for an announcement. We have all seen the previously reported news including the numbers and many doubted it, well it looks like it’s about to happen, if it already hasn’t. Assist in maintaining well control at all times as outlined in the Company Well Control Policy statement and detailed in the Company Well Control Manual. Communicate effectively with drilling personnel, motivating them to perform the tasks required of them with the highest regard for their own and others' safety. Communicate effectively with other members of the drilling staff to ensure a safe and efficient "handover" of operations. Assist in maintaining accurate records as required by legislation, Company policies and procedures, and operator requirements. Participate fully in all Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives and safety programs, and in pre-tour and weekly safety meetings. Perform and supervise the performance of maintenance in line with drilling equipment planned maintenance schedules. Assist the Rig Superintendent and Toolpusher in maintaining the rig procedures manuals, ensuring they are updated to reflect new equipment and practices. Assist, when required by the OIM, Rig Superintendent, Toolpusher, or Driller, in the supervision or performance of other tasks when the MODU is not engaged in drilling operations, including marine operations, anchor handling, tow-wire handling, deck work, protective coating maintenance, and construction/repair operations during breakdown or shipyard periods. TURM-OIL AT RECORDS RATES OF PRODUCTION IN THE UK ENERGY SECTOR. The UK Government has caused an undisclosed North Sea oil and Gas operator and Dolphin Drilling to drop its LOI for 18 months of North Sea development work previously announced early 2024. The LOI has lapsed indicating that the political uncertainty after the change in government in the United Kingdom and dragging of heels is causing operators to step back and readjust. A cash sum was paid upfront with the LOI to start work in late 2025 through 2026 with first oil some time in 2027. That has now been dropped as the LOI has expired. Dolphin Drilling is now looking for replacement work for Borgland Dolphin after its contract with EnQuest is completed. High taxation, capital allowance uncertainty and poor apetite for any new investment within the industry is causing Operators to sit back and watch how the short term is played out by the new labor government and how the October budget will affect the road ahead for the UK oil and gas sector. Dolphin are looking for replacement work in the North Sea and internationally also which may take the unit out of the UK market. Dolphin remain committed to get the unit working after its current gig, but this may not bode well for an already limping UK Energy sector. The Borgland Dolphin Semi-sub is currently in Las Palmas where it arrived in June 2024 to undergo reactivation and its special periodic survey (SPS). #oilandgas #energy #management #innovation #government

Its never fails to impress the illumination on these bad boys - Six (6) Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. HiMSEN 4-stroke 720 rpm diesel engines, each driving a 6,750 kw x 11KVAC generator - The images speak for themselves, impressive. Last look the Conquerer was still in the Gulf of Mexico with its HaloGuard Technology. - The HaloGuard system combines a wearable alarm and a real-time location transmitter together with a machine vision system that is designed to track the position of personnel and equipment on the drill floor while operating. The Conquerer still with Chevron and look to be with her until 1st Quarter 2025 as per Fleet Status Report Feb 2024. LAST WEEKS FRIDAY QUIZ -RESULTS We asked what would you do first after being told the well was a tight hole. A tight hole means that nothing can be discussed about the well, this can take many forms sometimes to total communications being shut down during certain operations such as Coring etc. To avoid strife at home it was wise to let your family know that at some point communications could be stopped in some cases this include mail bags and carrier pigeons.
