LOOKBACK: About forty Human Resources Society (HRS) members comprising Human Resources (HR) professionals from public and private sectors across the nation, attended a learn and connect session on the topic of “Navigating ASEAN’s Skills Terrain - Bridging Gaps” at the Rizqun International Hotel on Wednesday, 6 March 2024.
This event was brought by HRS as a collaborative effort with CIPD for the third time since last June 2023.
The event was kicked-off with opening remarks by the Founder and President of HRS, Hajah Zainab M.A. Omar, Chartered FCIPD, Associate Consultant, ChangeLeader.
A keynote by May Leng Kwok, Chartered FCIPD, Head of Market Development - Global and Interim Market Director, Asia, CIPD, titled “Navigating ASEAN’s Skills Terrain - Bridging Gaps” explored how Brunei and other ASEAN nations are tackling skill shortages and mismatches in alignment with regional goals like Wawasan 2035.
The keynote gave practical insights of the impact on organisations and suggested actionable strategies to address these challenges.
May Leng emphasized the crucial role HR practitioners play in this journey and the specific skills they need to stay relevant.
The keynote was then followed by a fireside chat between May Leng Kwok and HRS Vice President Marzalenie Hj Omar with members of Human Resources Society (HRS) Brunei to support the vision of developing Brunei's HR competitiveness even further.
The event closed with the presentation of certificate of appreciation by HRS Founder and President Hajah Zainab M.A. Omar to May Leng Kwok.
Following the event, HRS will be holding the Annual General Meeting 2024 in the look ahead and are inviting members to be informed on HRS annual activities and join in Executive Committee elections.
