About us
Since the discovery of the Seria field in 1929, Brunei Darussalam has forged an enduring partnership with Royal Dutch Shell, a relationship that reaches back more than nine decades. From its humble beginnings, Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) is now the largest oil and gas company in the Sultanate, boasting a diverse and highly qualified workforce of around 4,000 employees and more than 20,000 contractors. To this day, BSP remains as the backbone of Brunei’s economy and a major contributor to the nation’s oil & gas revenue and export earnings, supporting the growth and development of the country. BSP’s core activities include exploring for, and producing, oil & gas from onshore and offshore fields for domestic use and export to international markets. Last week, we held the 2024 Business Integrity (BI) Day - an annual event dedicated to celebrating ethical standards in business and honoring our Integrity Heroes. Adapting the learner's mindset, our speakers shared some breaches examples to raise awareness of BI principles and respecting people in the workspace. The event yesterday also witnessed a panel of Orang Kitani and our business partners came together to discuss about Conflicts of Interest, Gift and Hospitality and BI Compliance in Contract and Procurement, among many other aspects related to integrity of doing business with BSP. We also celebrated the BI Quiz winners as well as our integrity heroes - Orang Kitani who have played a significant role in upholding honesty and integrity as core values in their everyday business practices. Congratulations to the 2024 Brunei Shell Joint Venture (BSJV) scholarship recipients! This year, scholarships are awarded to 10 outstanding students who will be pursuing higher educations at local and overseas universities. In her welcoming remarks, Mizan Adiliah Haji Mohd Deli (BSP’s Head of Talent, Bruneianisation & Management Information) highlighted the importance of recognising the rapidly changing world, and the urgent need to build strong foundation of knowledge and experience in our future leaders to ensure that they can contribute significantly to Brunei’s bright future. Last week, BSP was proud to partner with University Technology Brunei (UTB) to exhibit their collaboration which resulted in a Numerical Sand Screen Modelling and Facilities Lab. This is a commercial sand screen facility at UTB to provide new and efficient tests to identify and address sand production issues in oil and gas operations. By conducting more efficient sand tests, we are able to develop innovative solutions to reduce sand-related downtime and improve overall well performance. The lab also brings new opportunities to develop our future leaders, foster innovation, and contribute to Brunei's economic growth - a testament to our commitment to Sustainably Power Brunei.

A gift to education 🎁 Last month, almost 200 types of used tools and machinery from the Brunei Shell Refinery were donated to Politeknik Brunei and IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus. It is hoped that the donation can help equip our aspiring engineers and technicians with access to real-life industry equipment, aligned with Brunei's Wawasan 2035 - fostering highly skilled professionals. Caring for our beaches by cleaning our shores 🏖 Yesterday, we celebrated a massive haul of 362.5kg worth of trash cleaned from the Jerudong Beach! Led by BSP's Commercial Directorate, Orang Kitani donned their cleaning gloves and rallied together to collect trashes such as plastics, metals and fish nets - among others. Our sincerest thanks to Orang Kitani who has taken the time out over the weekend to participate in this initiative. It was no walk in the sand, but every action shore did make a difference!

Strengthening the collaboration with our fenceline community, yesterday BSP held a Community Townhall at Pusat Insani, Seria. We were honoured to host representatives and colleagues from the government and private sectors, as well as community leaders, from the Belait district. The engagement serves as an opportunity to relay various upcoming operations projects to the attending community representatives, and to capture any potential concerns. The Community Townhall is one of the many engagements between BSP and its surrounding community that aims to fortify the tie between operations and communities to enable successful collaborations.
