Today at the Caribbean Infrastructure Forum, Vicky Hitch, Senior Manager led a discussion on ‘Building robust local labor markets on Caribbean islands’ roundtable with Charlotte Reboul Paradis, Manager, also taking part in the discussion. Many topics were explored during the interactive session such as economic diversification, enhancing education and training programs, creating workforce opportunities for young people, integrating sustainable practices into economic development plans and crafting policies that support job creation, fair wages, and worker protections. Later in the afternoon, Dr Edward Fitzgerald moderated a panel discussion on ‘The future of Island Healthcare’. His session delved into what does island health and care look like that directly serves the needs of communities, are centralized, high-tech hospitals a priority, how can we ease the burden on patients when cross island or intra-regional treatment is required and in the case of climate events, how can we ensure that healthcare remains operational?
