Every October, LaTonya Crewes walks the walk in memory of her mother, wearing pink shoes to the office each day in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   LaTonya, a Senior Legal Action Specialist for Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI) in Greensboro, is a self-described “sneakerhead” who owns five pairs of pink shoes to choose from her closet during the month.   “They are a fashion statement and a reminder, all rolled into one,” LaTonya says. “Hopefully they remind everybody else to go ahead and schedule your appointments. A mammogram is not a very comfortable experience. It can feel pretty invasive, but it is so very important for women — especially African American women, since their mortality rates are about 40% higher.”   “And the sneakers remind me of the guidance I got from my mom. Annabelle Silva is an Account Manager for Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI), and has been with Arch for two years.   She has been a mortgage loan officer for 17 years and sits on the board of the NAHREP - National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals®. She also has a certificate through Valle de Sol Community Health’s Hispanic Leadership Institute.   Annabelle shared that helping families get into homes of their own, and being a proud mom of two daughters are her two biggest motivators. She is first-generation Mexicana and Spanish was her first language.   When asked what about the Latino/Hispanic experience brings her joy, Annabelle shared: “Familia (family). It’s seeing my mother, my daughters and myself living the American Dream.”   And when asked what Hispanic Heritage Month means to her, she shared: “It’s a moment to recognize how far we have come and not take our opportunities for granted. Yesterday, Arch held a private memorial event to honor and celebrate the life of former CEO, Dinos Iordanou. Attended by family members, close friends and long-time colleagues, the event paid tribute to Dinos’ lasting contributions to Arch and the insurance industry at large. His family shared personal reflections and Arch’s Maamoun Rajeh hosted a panel of industry leaders who worked closely with Dinos over the years. During his life, Dinos was a passionate advocate for children’s rights, so in his memory, Arch donated $50,000 to the Cyprus Children’s Fund. Dinos Iordanou was part of the leadership team that founded Arch in 2001 and held the position of President and CEO of Arch Capital Group from 2003-2018. During his tenure, he grew Arch’s footprint significantly and helped lay the critical groundwork that enabled Arch’s ascent to its current status as a market-leading insurer. We are excited to announce that Nicolas Papadopoulo has been named CEO of Arch Capital Group and is joining the Board of Directors effective immediately. Papadopoulo has held his current positions of President and Chief Underwriting Officer since 2021 and previously served in various leadership and underwriting roles at the Company beginning in 2001. Marc Grandisson, who has served as CEO since 2018 and has been with Arch since 2001, has decided to retire from the Company. “On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to thank Marc for his leadership and significant contributions to Arch over the past two decades, during which Arch experienced outstanding growth and profitability and established itself as a market-leading, global specialty insurer,” said John Pasquesi, Chair of the Board. “Consistent with the Board’s robust succession planning process, we believe that Nicolas’ experience and expertise make him the ideal person to lead Arch going forward to drive growth and value for all shareholders. Maria Lerma joined Arch only six months ago as AVP, Change Management for Arch Insurance Group Inc.   Maria moved to the United States 23 years ago. She started her career as an Operations Analyst working for Maersk Line, the biggest container shipping company in the world. She grew up in a port city called Buenaventura in Colombia, and both of her parents worked in the logistics field, which is what brought her to Maersk. After her time there, she worked for companies like Nestle, Bayer, Bunge and LPL Financial, where she gained deep knowledge of change management.   In her personal life, Maria has a family of three, her husband Victor, her daughter Luciana and herself. They love travelling and trying different international cuisine.   Maria is proud to be an African American and Latin woman. She takes this part of her ethnicity very seriously and tries to demonstrate her family values wherever she goes. Kindness is the core of her persona and her authenticity.   When asked what about the Latino/Hispanic experience brings her joy, Maria shared, “I love family gatherings, salsa dancing and Hispanic cuisine. I truly enjoy meeting people from other Latin American countries and share with them about Colombia. Community Housing Solutions of Guilford, Inc. (CHS) is one of five grantee organizations chosen earlier this year to benefit from the Arch Group Foundation, a charitable fund which donates to causes that make a lasting impact.     A group of 18 Arch employees pitched in to help CHS achieve their mission to make homes warmer, drier and safer for their residents. Specifically, CHS helps elderly individuals who live alone, maintain their independence. These volunteers took on a project to repair parts of a local Greensboro, North Carolina home, and they used Arch’s Volunteer Time Off (VTO) benefit to do so.     At Arch, our employees strive to make a difference and invest in the local communities where we live and work. To help our employees give back to the causes they are passionate about, we offer two days of VTO annually to volunteer with eligible charitable organizations. Jennifer Henes is an Underwriting Support Specialist for Arch Mortgage Insurance Company (Arch MI). Her daughter, Alina was born with severe hearing loss in her left ear and profound hearing loss in her right ear.   After a yearslong medical journey, Alina can hear now because of cochlear implants. It was an odyssey that would’ve been nearly impossible without Jennifer’s benefits through Arch.   “Just her surgery, anesthesia and equipment added up to over $200,000,” Jennifer says. “But with the insurance through Arch, I only had to pay around $1,900. I never would have been able to do it without Arch. I couldn’t have given my daughter what she calls her ‘hearing ears.’ I did the research and, basically, she wears about $25,000 on her head every day.”   “I’m just so super grateful,” she adds. “It’s not just the insurance or the financial aspect.
