Ferrari 430 Scuderia

Poor thinking…

The rear diffuser is done and that makes it the first work piece of work that i have finished.
There are a few things left though. Please comment since most probably I wont touch this part again.

looks very good, use material with a little specular,

Thanks. Great to hear from a pro

Really coming along now, that clay render looks great! I always struggle with doing the lights on my attempts at cars so be good to see your solution to how you do them. Might give me some ideas on how I’d do mine

The model looks really cool  i like the difuse rendering alot :eyebrowlift:

Thanks Odeas and Narven.
I have almost done the modelling. Just a few prancing horse logos and the tail lamps.
I might take the logos from cinder1’s Ferarri Enzo.
Here are a few really quick renders. Something went wrong with the earlier settings and it would take 7-8 minutes only to return terrible renders like this .
I’ll have to append it to a new file.
Vertex Count-430,000+
Faces-550,000+
That includes everything.
Can’t wait to do rendering since I have never spent more than a few minutes on it.
Please comment on the modelling.I am not gonna correct anything after a few days.

PS-Just lost a render. Don’t know why I come up with the same name for it-“Ferrari”

Coming along really well. You need to hollow out the wing mirrors and add in the glass for them.

Have a go at modeling your own logo, it’ll be more satisfying to know you did it all yourself. You can always refer to cinders but with the modeling you’ve done so far the logo should be a piece of cake.

I find getting your render settings how you want them to be a pain as sometimes the render times can be high. 2 quick tips I’ve been using on my watch.

  1. Hide any high poly objects your not really focusing on at that moment such as the tyres, or lower or remove the subsurf from them to speed things up.
  2. Use the bounds option in the render panel with shift B to set an area to render rather than the full shot. ie, on the first render i’d just render out te back half, and on the second just the bonet and maybe the windscreen.

Both saved me tons of time for adjusting my renders, while still being able to keep it at 100% and 16 OSA to see how the final outcome will be but saving the time of not rendering parts of the image your not interested in seeing at that point.

Sorry for the long post!

I am thinking of color combinations and since i am terrible with colors (that has nothing to do with my colorblindness) I would like to have a little poll.
Options

  1. Grey, black stripes, black wheels, yellow callipers
  2. White, red stripes, black wheels, black callipers
  3. Yellow, silver/grey stripes, golden wheels,silver/grey callipers
  4. The default theme they sell- Red, sea green stripes(tell me if thats wrong), Golden wheels, and the callipers always remain in the dark.

Or you could suggest your own. Please vote.
Note- You will be cursed for eternity if you leave this thread without voting

I guess i did that. Is this what you mean?( see image)

Sorry for what??Keep posting. You’ve given me more tips on rendering than all the crazy tutorials i’ve done combined.
Do you have any links to those

Ah yeah couldn’t see that from the previous renders. I’d make the piece of glass seperately though, as it is in real life. It also needs a slight gap around the glass so it can be positioned and angled so the driver can see behind.

Links for what? What I’ve told you so far is just what I’ve either figured out or needed for some case or other such as the boarder tool I just found myself cos I needed to check the ansiostropic effect on the watch links and doing a full render each time to find out it was wrong was taking way to long but rendering one link at full quality took much less time. Still a total n00b at rendering hehe.

As for colors I know its none of your choices but I quite like the Blue, black stripe, plain alloy colored wheels, yellow callipers: http://themotorreport.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/ferrari430scuderia_melbourne_16a.JPG but out of those listed I’d go for number 2 or 3

wow A LOT HAS HAPPEND IN A DAY!
i only get a post every thew days on my old threads.

Not a big update
KellyQ’s great works forced me to try yaf(a)ray that had been rotting on my hard disk
This is just the same model as the previous.
I am paying more attention to Physics and chemistry right now.

Sorry for floating stripes. i messed up the shrink warp settings

Question- How to reduce that “pixelation”.Its done by increasing OSA in BI but what in yafray.

Attachments

im not sure about yafray, but that kind of stuff can be caused by Anti-Aliasing… if there is an option in yafray about AA( or Anti-aliasing, then see if that makes a difference… if not… then just play with settings that you have touched when you set that render up… process of elimination…

looks good though… you seem to be getting a lot of headway with this model… good look when it comes to full rendering… i wanna see those…

Unrealbeing is right you need to raise your AA settings. I’ve also just today started setting up my materials to run with Yafaray

Try something like the following for better results (but longer times)
AA Passes: 2 (4)
AA Samples: 4 (8)
AA inc Sampels: 2 (4)
AA Pixel Width: 1.5 (1.2)
AA Threshold: 0.05 (0.02)
Mitchel

Numbers in brackets are for even better results but longer render times again.

I’m still very new to yafaray so dont take these values as musts, they’re just guides i’m using myself.

I did 5 out of 6 logos and a lot of tweaks.

Modelling is done other tha the taillamps tht need more detail and rear emblem which is almost an organic horse model split into half. I guess i will have to texture it since i am not into organic stuff and cant find a model like that on the internet.

Continuing with my tradition of messing something at the last second, i give you bad lighting in image#1 and chrome taillamps in image#2
This is my 200th post.Cheers!!!

Quick fix on the lighting
Hope this shows more:D

After a few unsuccesful attempts at rendering, i have realised that it is gradual and will take some time.
So that means this is finished for now. I may do some renders when I get better at doing that.

Meanwhile, I plan to do my concept in a month and need to improve my sketching skills.

Hopefully the F1 comp will be back on this year so you could try and put some idea’s down for that? Shame to see this project finishing for now. You should defo try and get some materials down even if they’re basic! Working on your weaknesses is the best way to learn.

Blender F1 looks like interesting stuff.
Though noone seems to know about 2009.
I think i might have a chance though my concept will be less fantasy and more realistic
lets see what happens
