Golden State Warriors center Kevon Looney's $8 million contract for the 2024-25 NBA season became fully guaranteed on Monday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Sam Gordon.

Prior to Monday, only $3 million of his contract had been guaranteed.

Looney, who has spent his entire career with the Warriors, will be eligible for an extension on July 9.

The 28-year-old averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game last season. There has been some concern the Warriors could look to move on from Looney to ease their luxury tax situation.

"The ball isn't in my court. I don't have full control over my destiny, so I kind of have to play the waiting game, control what I can control," Looney told teammate Draymond Green on the latter's podcast. "I've been here my whole career. I don't know nothing else. You always want to finish what you started and be somewhere for your whole career, but I've been in this business long enough to know that's not realistic. I'm preparing myself for whatever. My family's out here, the Bay's been great to me. They treat me like family, I grew up here."

Even though Looney's minutes were at his lowest since his injury-plagued 2019-20 campaign, he's a locker-room fixture and solid role player in Steve Kerr's rotation.
