Alan Garten’s Early Life and Education

Alan Gary Garten was born on 19 March 1970, in Jericho, New York State USA, into the family of Jay C. and Gloria Garten. He is of American nationality and white ethnicity while further details about his family’s background haven’t been publically disclosed. Upon completing his elementary education and matriculating from a local high school, Alan enrolled at the University of Michigan, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. However, he continued his education and in 1992 enrolled at Hofstra University’s School of Law from which he graduated in 1995, earning his Juris Doctorate degree.

Alan Garten’s Early Career

Garten really began his professional career in the early 2000s, when he joined the New York City law firm Robinson, Silverman, Pearce, Aronsohn & Berman LLP. In the course of the next two and a half years, Alan served as its associate before the firm was officially acquired by and later rebranded as the Bryan Cave LLP, where he spent the next four and a half years, working as a real estate litigator.

In December 2006, Alan Garten’s career was set on a rising path when he joined The Trump Organization – a group of roughly 500 privately held business companies which are all owned by the current, 45th President of the US Donald J. Trump, where he began as an Assistant General Counsel. This business conglomerate is globally involved in real estate development, brokerage and investing business, including in marketing, property management and real estate sales. Its headquarters are set in the 664-foot-high (202m.) Trump Tower located in Midtown Manhattan, the central portion of New York City’s most densely populated borough, also known as The City.

After honing his business skills in the course of the next six years, Alan Garten climbed the ladder of The Trump Organization’s hierarchy, and in January 2013 was promoted to the position of its Executive Vice President. Parallel to this function, throughout the next four years he also served as the organization’s General Counsel. Since January 2017, besides still being its Executive Vice President, Garten also serves as The Trump Organization’s Chief Legal Officer, and is in charge of inspecting the company’s official litigations as well as its global real estate development and its business properties.
