📣 The European Commission has launched a call for evidence to seek feedback on the revision of the State Aid Aviation Guidelines ✈ 📃 The Aviation Guidelines set out the conditions under which Member States and local authorities may grant State aid to airports and airlines 🛬 🎯 The purpose of the call for evidence is to gather facts and evidence on this framework's functioning and assess the extent to which the guidelines may or may not need to be amended or revised. In particular, the call for evidence seeks to: 📌 analyse the evolution of the aviation market since the adoption of the Aviation Guidelines and the needs of the aviation sector; 📌 assess if the Aviation Guidelines should be updated and simplified to reduce administrative burden and improve compliance by Member States; 📌 assess how to better align the Aviation Guidelines with the priorities of the European Green Deal. 🔴 All interested parties can submit their views in any official EU language on the Commission's Have Your Say Portal until 8 October 2024 📅 The Commission will prepare a public consultation planned for the last quarter of 2024. 🔴 The EU Commission has approved a €5 billion German measure to support European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (‘ESMC') in the construction and operation of a microchip manufacturing plant in Dresden 👇 🤝 ESMC is a joint venture between Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (‘TSMC'), Bosch, Infineon Technologies, and NXP Semiconductors. 📨 Germany notified the Commission of its plan to support ESMC's project to build and operate a new semiconductor production facility. The project aims to serve the demand for automotive and industrial applications. 🔍 After assessing the German measure under EU State aid rules, and based on the principles set out in the European Chips Act Communication, the Commission approved it ✔ 🎯 The measure will strengthen Europe's security of supply, resilience and digital sovereignty in semiconductor technologies, in line with the objectives set out in the European Chips Act Communication. The measure will also contribute to achieving the digital 👩💻 and green 🌲 transitions. 📣 A new generation of Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs) ◾ The Joint European Forum for IPCEI (JEF-IPCEI) has marked the beginning of a new mindset of collaboration 🤝 amongst Member States 👨💼 👩💼 and the Commission. 🔗 https://europa.eu/!gW8DtP ◾ The JEF-IPCEI has been working on identifying and designing new IPCEIs, and Member States have been collaborating with the Commission on the entire IPCEI lifecycle to contribute to key ✔ EU policy objectives. ◾ Fruitful exchanges already took place to identify possible new IPCEI candidates. Discussions have followed an evidence-based 📃 approach and are planned to be enriched by insights of the industry, 🏭 academia 👩🏫 and other stakeholders. ◾ The JEF-IPCEI has been working to improve the IPCEI process.
