Congratulations to Geert Baudewijns on the official launch of his first book, Negotiating in the Dark, proudly presented tonight to an audience of friends, family, and business partners. Hosted by cath Luyten, who experienced a Secutec-staged hack during an episode of Control Pedro several years ago, the event highlighted Geert's journey as a ransomware negotiator and his experience writing this book. It’s inspiring to see his dream come true, leaving a lasting legacy with a compelling read on his journey, giving readers an inside look at the complex negotiation process between hacked companies and hacker groups. Yesterday night Geert Baudewijns had the pleasure of presenting the first copy of his book “Negotiating in the Dark” to none other than Bart De Wever. On December 6, 22, while Geert was in Japan, the city of Antwerp was hacked. Exactly 7 days before the hack, he sat down with the mayor of Antwerp to warn that a possible hacking was coming. At that time there were a lot of indicators on the Darknet that something was going on. Unfortunately, there was very little time to act on the warning. So it is with great honor that he handed over his book to Bart yesterday. Next week you can find his book, published by Uitgeverij Lannoo, in every Standaard Boekhandel. In December it will also be available in English, French and German. Be wary of email spoofing! For the October Cybersecurity Month, Secutec offers some valuable tips on how to stay safe on the world wide web. When you receive an email stating to be from ‘company Y’, make sure to check the sender’s full email address. A subtle change in the address can go unnoticed but is a clear indication of scammers: [email protected] compared to [email protected] for example. Their passion, expertise, and long-term commitment have been instrumental in shaping our company’s growth and success. 👉𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐤 started his journey at Secutec in 2015 as a Security Consultant. His expertise and forward-thinking approach quickly propelled him to the position of CTO and SIEM expert. Now serving as Head of Operations, Frederic initiated and led the development of Secutec’s #SecureDNS solution and the company’s shift towards proactive protection and real-time monitoring. His leadership has enabled the expansion of technical teams and reinforced Secutec’s commitment to innovative, future-proof cybersecurity solutions. 👉𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐬, who has been with Secutec since 2016, initially took on the roles of Sales Executive and Marketing Manager before moving into leadership. Since then, she has driven significant sales growth within the enterprise segment, securing key clients such as Swift, The Centre of Cybersecurity Belgium, Service public de Wallonie, and Eurofins among others. She made substantial contributions in launching SecureDNS in the Belgian market and in leading the transition from traditional endpoint security to more advanced EDR and XDR solutions. Her strong relationships with industry-leading vendors have solidified Secutec’s standing in the cybersecurity sector.
