Sunday was International Day for Failure 💥 In a way, it's good to have a day when we can celebrate the failures. However, one day out of 365 is not enough.  We want every day to be International Day for Failure.  We want people to be able to talk openly about their failures whenever they see fit. Because it is part of everyday life and part of everyone's life, whether personal or professional. So why not make it a story worth telling rather than something to be ashamed of? That's what we do by hosting Fuckup Nights Brussels & Wallonia & Fuckup Nights Ghent. There's nothing more powerful than putting the spotlight on entrepreneurs-professionals - artists - athletes - others to share their f*ckups and show you how they overcame them.  It’s about knowing that we're certainly not the only ones to screw up and that we don't struggle alone. We would like to thank the four speakers who took to the stage with us for the first time at the Wintercircus Ghent last week (Leslie, Ann, Maarten, Pieter-Jan) 🙏 But also to all those who have gone before them, who have joined us in this movement, who share our convictions and have helped us to move the lines. A couple of days ago, we celebrated the first year of our in-house acceleration programme for not-for-profit organisations supported by the PULSE Foundation. Over the past year, we have initiated and offered a more holistic support to these entrepreneurs to meet their challenges and help them develop. During a 2-day bootcamp at the magnificent Domaine de Ronchinne, it was time to reconnect, challenge themselves and grow individually as well as collectively. A big thank you to them for their trust. We would also like to thank Cécile Vennat, Isabel Casteleyn & Melchior Wathelet for orchestrating all the activities over the 2 days 🙏.

71% of children (as young as 5 yo) feel pressured to be perfect and not to make mistakes (i.e. fear of failure)... The recent study carried out by the LEGO Group in 36 countries, including Belgium, shows that this fear affects girls and boys differently, highlighting (once again) the prejudices linked to gender and language.  Here’s a few figures to illustrate this : - 80% of 👧 would be less afraid of trying new things if mistakes were seen more as opportunities to learn. - 8 out of 10 👧 would also feel more comfortable showing their work and would value progress over perfection.  - 9 out of 10 👧 think their confidence would be boosted if adults focused more on the creative process of their work rather than the end result, it would make them less worried about making mistakes. We urgently need to change our mindset, embrace and accept failure if we want future - and current! - generations of boys and girls to gain confidence in their creativity, gain self-esteem and dare to innovate. This is key to nurturing the entrepreneurs of tomorrow 💪 What if we changed that now? We couldn't help but let out a sigh of satisfaction yesterday when we heard the announcement of the new government agreements 🙌 A new breath of fresh air for entrepreneurship in Wallonia! They've put everything on the table: Stimulate entrepreneurship, simplify administrative procedures, bring the worlds of business and education closer together, female entrepreneurship, prevent mental and physical health problems for entrepreneurs, strengthen support for Belgian scale-ups and, finally, play an active part in changing the perception of failure and bankruptcy.
