And that's a wrap! 🎉 Yesterday marked a milestone as Protealis hosted its first-ever Field Day—the northernmost event of its kind! This showed that sustainable and profitable local soy production is no longer just a possibility—it’s becoming a reality. Although the weather 🌧️ was a challenge, we made it through without a single drop 😅 From our speed breeding facility to our #drone, #biologicals and #genetics technologies, we opened our doors to demonstrate how we use the latest #seedtechnologies to develop #superior non-GM #legume seeds for a more local, sustainable and plant based future 🌱 A huge thank you to all participants for making it an inspiring and enriching day! 🙏 Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in agriculture and for European farmers - today and tomorrow 👨🌾 More on https://www.protealis.com/ Benjamin Laga Jonas Aper Maarten Bekaert Maxim Vancoillie Ati Janssens Tina Rogge Mathilde Eve Robbe Bombeke Juan S. About us
Protealis is an innovative company fostering the cultivation of sustainable plant-based proteins in Europe. We develop superior seeds and seed technologies for legume crops that are adapted to our local environment. By combining innovation in breeding and nitrogen fixation we create new opportunities for European farmers to help overcome Europe’s protein deficit and provide local sourcing options for the growing number of producers of meat and milk alternatives.

Today, the Protealis team enjoyed a tasty break at The Loving Hut Express food truck in Ghent's Technology Park! 🌱 Delicious vegan bites, great vibes, and the perfect spot to fuel up on plant-based goodness 😋 Seeing the 'Thursday Veggie Day' sticker was a great reminder of @Tobias Leenaerts ProVeg Belgium ProVeg International inspiring initiative to make plant-based eating an easy part of the week—just pick a day! 💚 For us at the Ghent Tech Science Park, it’s Wednesday when the vegan food truck 'The Loving Hut Express' is there! Need some lunch inspiration? 🥦 Add a little #soy for extra goodness! 😉 📸 Koen Vereecke Ati Janssens Renate Degrave #Protealis #PlantBased #ThursdayVeggieDay #TechLaneGhentSciencePark biotope by VIB VIB Agro-Incubator VIB-UGent VIB

🗞️ PRESS NEWS: Protealis Secures 1.2m EUR @VLAIO grants to Advance Local High-Performing Legume Crop Innovations in Northern Europe. Good news #ForTheFarmers ánd #Consumers 😃 and thank you VLAIO for supporting us on our #innovation journey towards more high-performance legume crops for European farmers! 🧑🌾 The UpCoat project focuses on scaling Protealis’ breakthrough soy seed coating technology that coats live Nitrogen-fixing bacteria on soybean seeds for high yield performance. The technology differentiates through its high #user-friendliness for the farmer: it will be delivered as a ‘ready-to-sow’, avoiding the need to add the inoculant manually onto the seeds 😋 The Tast-Y project aims to improve legume crop seed quality in soybean and pea to better meet consumer preferences and processing requirements in the plant-based food sector. Meaning: less anti-nutritional factors (ANFs) to improve digestability, improvements in taste, health benefits such as high protein content, and supporting a more energy-efficient processing. This way, we create leguminous crops that are optimised for our food, for more plant proteins in Europe! 💚 Read the full press release here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXeyECev #SoyNews #VLAIO #Grants #Innovation #AgTech #ForTheFarmers #Europe #Legumes Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) AgriFoodMatch - Vacaturesite voor Food en Agri VIB Agro-Incubator ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek) EIT Food Donau Soja Organisation AgFunder flanders.bio Agoria Food & Beverage Technology Club

🌱 Celebrating #WorldVeganDay with Protein Power from Soy! 🌍 Created in 1994 by the Vegan Society in the UK, World Vegan Day raises awareness about the benefits of plant-based diets, animal welfare and environmental sustainability. At Protealis, we’re SO(Y) proud to cultivate soy! Soy is unique among plant proteins as it contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a "complete protein" comparable to animal-based proteins 💪 This completeness, along with its high digestibility, ranks soy on par with protein sources like eggs and dairy according to the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS). Soy is not only rich in protein but also high in fiber, low in fat,and supports sustainable farming with its natural nitrogen-fixing ability, which improves soil health and reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers. 🌿 Whether you’re enjoying a vegan lifestyle or simply adding more plant power to your diet, our high-performance soy varieties make it easier for you and the planet to thrive! This 📸 featuring our team member Macarena Martin was taken during our Vegan Cooking Competition in January this year, where our colleagie Lisa Van den Broeck made delicious #soy milk from our own soy varieties 😀 Ready to learn more about our local and sustainable #soypower? 👉 Visit us at https://www.protealis.com/

Do you know why cultivating local soy in Europe is a big WIN? 💪 One of the reasons is that soy creates its own natural fertilizer in symbiosis with #Bradyrhizobium bacteria from the soil. Thanks to these bacteria, the plant fixes nitrogen from the air in a kind of nodules at the root, which we see on this picture, and converts it into a form used for its growth 🌱 Bradyrhizobium bacteria are not naturally present in European soil, so they are added to the soybean seed as an #inoculant, needed to achieve good soybean yields. Protealis is develoiping a unique technology to coat live nitrogen-fixing bacteria on soybean seeds in advance. This provides a great yield ánd convenience for farmers 🧑🌾 Find out more on https://lnkd.in/dEUpFnH7 📸 @HartmutvanLengerich #Soy #Local #Inoculant #Tech #Yield

Grateful to the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology (UGent) and Prof. Frank Van Breusegem 's group of Master students in Biotechnology & Biochemistry in Plant Biotechnology, for visiting our Protealis Gavere speed breeding facilities last Friday! 🌱😃 During their visit, Macarena Martin, our Pea Breeding Expert, explained how our speed breeding facilities simply add a few extra seasons 📈 and as such reduce the time it takes to breed new soy and pea varieties! Our head of Microbiology Juan S. Ramirez spoke about how we are developing a #seedcoating with nitrogen-fixing bacteria 🧬 to boost plant growth. This avoids the need for nitrogen fertilization on the one hand and increases yield and protein content on the other 📈😃 We LOVED the great interaction with this beautiful group of students, thank you to everyone involved! 🤩 Want to find out more? 👉 http://www.protealis.com #PlantBiotechnology #PlantProteins #TeamProtealis #Students
